SC1500, SC4200—Profinet Gateway for Siemens PLC

OverviewThis document shows the integration of Kunbus Profinet Gateway into Siemens Profinet PLC for SC1500 andSC4200 controllers. For other PLC systems, contact technical support.

Network connection

1. Complete the Ethernet network connections. Refer to Figure 1 for a connection example.

Install the GSDML fileInstall the GSDML file from the Kunbus Profinet GW in the PLC as follows:

1. Download the GSDML file. Go to www.kunbus.de and look for "Gateway Modul Profinet IRT" and select"KUNBUS-GW PROFINET XML file".

2. Save and unzip the file in a local folder.

3. Start the PLC Program (e.g., Siemens TIA Portal). Select OPTIONS > MANAGE GENERAL STATIONDESCRIPTION FILES (GSD).

4. Enter the location of the GSDML file on the SOURCE PATH field. Select the file, then click INSTALL.

5. If the installation is correct, "INSTALLATION WAS COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY" will show. Click CLOSE.

Put the Profinet GW in the PLC projectPut the Kunbus Profinet Gateway in the PLC project as follows:

1. On the project tree panel, select DEVICES AND NETWORKS (1). On the hardware catalog panel, look forKUNBUS GW-PROFINET element. Use the mouse to drag and drop the element to the main NETWORKOVERVIEW window (2). The preview shows in the overview window.

2. Make sure that DEVICES AND NETWORKS stays selected on the project tree panel (1). In the NETWORKOVERVIEW window, click PLC1, then KUNBUS GW (2).

3. On the project tree panel, look for DEVICE CONFIGURATION and double-click the element.

4. On the OPTIONS panel, double-click the elements INPUT XX BYTE to make the list of input bytes on theDEVICE OVERVIEW window.

5. Save the changes on the PLC as follows:

a. On the project tree panel, look for PLC_1.b. Right-click the element and select COMPILE > HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE (ONLY CHANGES).

6. Load the file on the PLC as follows:

a. On the project tree panel, look for PLC_1.b. Right-click the element and select DOWNLOAD TO DEVICE > HARDWARE AND SOFTWARE (ONLY

CHANGES).

7. The EXTENDED DOWNLOAD TO DEVICE window shows. Click START SEARCH.

8. Select the PLC device (1), then click LOAD (2).

9. Click LOAD again.

10. Click FINISH to complete the load on the PLC.

Give a name to the Kunbus Profinet GWGive a name to the Kunbus Profinet GW as follows:

1. On the project tree panel, look for PLC > DISTRIBUTED I/O > PROFINET IO-SYSTEM > KUNBUS-GW-PROFINET. Double-click the ONLINE AND DIAGNOSTICS element (1). On the main window, select ASSIGNIP ADDRESS (2). Then, click ACCESSIBLE DEVICES (3).

2. The SELECT DEVICE window shows. Click START SEARCH.

3. Select the KUNBUS-GW-PROFINET on the list (1), then click APPLY (2).

Change the Profinet GW IP-AddressChange the Profinet Gateway IP-Address as follows:

1. Double-click the project tree panel on the ONLINE AND DIAGNOSTICS element (1). On the main window,select ASSIGN NAME (2). Then, select the KUNBUS IP from the accesible devices in the network list (3) andclick ASSIGN NAME (4).

2. Double-click the project tree panel on the DEVICE CONFIGURATION element (1). On the main windowpreview, double-clik the KUNBUS-GW icon (2). The KUNBUS-GW PROFINET MODULE panel shows on thebottom window. Enter the correct IP-Address for the Kunbus GW (3).

3. Do steps 5 to 10 again from Put the Profinet GW in the PLC project on page 3 to save and load the changesin the PLC.
