On top of the daily tasks involved with supporting a student health center that serves more than 16,000 patients each year, Allis Gilbert, Operations Director at CSU Health Network, was about to dive into the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) accreditation process for the first time. Judging by the hundreds of binders from past accreditation cycles stacked on every surface throughout the Center, she knew this was no easy task. While attending a conference, Allis visited with AAAHC to learn more about the accreditation process and garner tips for CSU’s upcoming assessment/self-survey. She asked if there was an alternative way to prepare for and conduct the assessment/self-survey electronically, using a software solution. They shared a few options with her. After seeing the products firsthand, CSU Health Networks purchased PowerDMS.
Problem: Before PowerDMS
How did CSU Health Network save one year of AAAHC accreditation prep?

After going through and purging hundreds of binders from past AAAHC accreditation cycles, I wondered if there was a technology solution to simplify the process. Thankfully, I was introduced to PowerDMS. Using PowerDMS, we were able to prepare for our AAAHC assessment in only six months—a task that once took 18 months. The amount of time, resources and money we saved was appreciated by everyone involved and will only multiply as we continue to use PowerDMS.

This was my first time conducting an AAAHC assessment using PowerDMS and it was seamless. Allis provided me with login credentials 10 days prior to the onsite and I was able to go in and see all the documentation. There were no papers, no binders, no back and forth emails. It was so easy. I would recommend PowerDMS to any healthcare organization looking for a way to simplify their compliance and accreditation processes. I wish I had it when I was in practice.
