Couples who wish to marry at Saint Theresa’s should see Father Thien or Deacon Gagliani as soon as possible. RECONCILIATION/PENANCE: Saturday at 3:00 to 3:40 p.m. in the confessional or by appointment. ANOINTING OF THE SICK: Please call for a hospital visit or anointing of the sick. Bulletin Reflection for the Feast of the Birth of

John the Baptist Saint John the Baptist commands our interest because he is a witness. By his witness, he reminds us that we are called to be witnesses. And in any age, to be a witness is challenging. God called the prophets and all of Israel to be special witnesses. The works that Jesus performed, his miracles, witnessed to who he was. So did John the Baptist who said "One more powerful than I is coming . . . baptize with the Holy Spirit." Jesus said to the disciples "You will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth." Peter spoke to the crowd telling them that he and the disciples were witnesses to Jesus' resurrection and therefore, their witness testifies to the truth: "This Jesus, God raised up and of that all of us are witnesses." Paul tells how from a persecutor he became a witness for Christ. The strength of his conviction drove him to work unceasingly for Christ. The truth of the disciples' witness became even more evident when they were being persecuted and condemned to death. Early Christians martyrs went joyfully to their deaths rather than deny Christ. In fact, the word "martyr" is a transliteration of the Greek word for witness. So the martyrs were witnesses of Christ, of his death and resurrection, of their future with Christ in heaven. The power of the Holy Spirit enabled them to be strong. Today people question everything about Jesus and deny even the existence of God. How do we witness to them? Are we ready to stand up for Christ? When we profess to be Christians, we give witness to the living Christ. We are to be like a Christian man who lived simply among non-believers. Later, when a missionary arrived and started proclaiming the Gospel, the people said, "Oh we knew him; he lived in that house on the hill." Obviously, this person presented the face of Christ without preaching a word. May it be that others would be able to say the same about us, Christ’s living breathing witnesses. Deacon Tony

St. Theresa’s Food Pantry “Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers you did it to me” Matthew 25:40 Week of June 19th 8 bags were donated. 2018 Mission Appeal AIM/USA AIM/USA is an organization known as ASISTANCE FOR INTERNATIONAL MONASTERIES ~ an alliance for International Monasticism whose national office is in Erie, PA. AIM is an alliance of approximately 150 Benedictine/Trappist monasteries in the United States and Canada who pray and network with members of over 400 monastic communities in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America. Each year AIM/USA contacts dioceses across the United States and asks to be invited to present mission appeals as part of the MISSIONARY COOPERATION PROGRAM. AIM/USA recognizes all of creation and all of humanity as one. With that recognition comes responsibility. Through its annual mission appeals AIM/USA requests prayer and financial assistance for monasteries in third world countries. Your assistance will help monks and nuns beyond North America to receive appropriate education and formation through the donations received. In addition to Grants, AIM/USA ships books to monasteries who have members with some fluency in English. Topics desired include bibles, scripture study, general spirituality, prayer, lives of the saints, monasticism, Rule of St. Benedict and Liturgy. Donors can send the books in good condition to AIM and in turn, AIM ships these books to the monasteries who are most in need. Indeed, your generosity in prayer and in financial assistance will aid further Gospel living in Africa, Asia, the Caribbean and Latin America throughout the year and they will have a long lasting impact upon the recipients. We, the members of AIM/USA invite you to assist this ministry with whatever financial contribution you can. Even more importantly, as I am sure we are all well aware from our own life experiences of the powerful gift of one's prayers for another, we ask that you earnestly pray for AIM/USA and all those in alliance with it.
