Good Stewards of Talents
T he second “T” of stewardship is “Talent.” God has given us abilities and talents:
talent to teach, to sing, to think, to build, to design, to paint, to repair, to listen, to
care, to pray, to garden, to write, to plan, to organize, to read, to speak, and so on.
So how much of these talents do you employ in service to God? Your talents are wonderful,
precious, and uniquely your own, and no one else can replace them. God gives each person
something which no one else can give. Talents do not wear out by sharing them with others;
instead they are enhanced. Do not hide your talents or shy away from sharing them. If your
talent is only to smile, that is a great talent that you can share with the Church as a “Greeter.”
It is important to know your strengths to share them with others. I encourage those of you
who think that you have no talents to read this wonderful book called, Living your Strengths.
I encourage everyone to read this book to know your abilities better. At the end of the book,
you will find a code that will give you access to the Clifton Strength Finder Assessment. Take
this online assessment, and it will list your first five greatest strengths.
When you share your time and talent to do God’s work in the parish, you are contributing your
share to build God’s kingdom. As St. Teresa of Avila said:
“Christ has no body now on earth, but yours;
no hands but yours; no feet but yours.
Yours are the eyes through which He is to go about doing good;
yours are the hands with which He is to bless people now.”
Therefore, by sharing the gifts of time and talent, you can truly be the hands and feet of Jesus
Christ here in our parish. I greatly appreciate those of you who already share your time and
talent with the Church. To others, I pray that the Ministry Fair this weekend will be a time of
reflection and resolution. Come, check it out in the Parish Community Center after the Masses,
and share your God’s gift of time and talents with God and His Church.

Join us this year as we celebrate the theme, “Church as Family.” We have an incredible line-up of dynamic and inspiring speakers this year—some are new to Faith on Fire, and some are returning favorites.
And we are very excited to announce that Doug Barry will be joining us this year! Doug was co-host for EWTN's television program “Life on the Rock” for the past several years, and he is currently host for EWTN’s brand new television program “Battle Ready!”
“Battle Ready” is a mission of RADIX to help strengthen and encourage the soldier of Christ to be aware of, prepared for, and engaged in the spiritual fight that we are in. Since the start of the “Battle Ready” initiative, these events have been able to reach out to many hearts and souls and have offered a powerful opportunity to rally the troops for Christ and the faith!
