south part of the island, in
Saint-Pierre, the second
biggest city after Saint-Denis.
The nearly 77.000 inhabitants
have the chance to live near
the tropical lagoon and the
mountains. The city is very
attractive, has a lot of stores,
4 industrial areas next to the
town, and a few malls. It's
served by a highway and
other main roads.

• Lycée La Salle Saint-Charles is a traditional
technical, secondary and professional French
high school. We can count today about 2.200
pupils and about 200 teachers. Thanks to the
congregation of Lasallian Brothers (Christian
Schools' Brothers, living according to Saint Jean-
Baptiste de La Salle‘s rules), in 1895 a primary
school opened. In 1950 a junior high school (from
11 to 15 years old) was born and then a high
school (from 15 to 18 years old) opened in 1974.
The school offers a secondary school in which
the pupils (from 15 to 18) prepare economics,
litterature or sciences A’Level , a vocational
school (Administration and Accountancy),
Technical School (Sales, Finance and Human
Resources), a vocational training certificate (2
year study after the A’level ) in International Trade
and Negociations & Customer Relationships , and
2 preparatory classes for Mathematics and Trade
(High Commercial Studies )

MANY LEVELS OF STUDIES
Lycée La Salle Saint-Charles
has a school project called
"Growing and Flourishing"
with shared values as
confidence, respect, living
together. This means that
the school's aim is to help
students do their best. That
is why the chosen fields of
activities are always very
closely linked to the needs
of the regional population,
as well as the European
labour market.
INVOLVEMENT , CHARITY , VOLUNTEERING
( Madagascar , the ageing population , children at hospital…..)
TRIPS : GETTING AQUAINTED WITH NEW CULTURES WHILE IMPROVING LANGUAGE SKILLS • Each year our school organizes
trips in South Africa, Australia, Germany, England China and Italy. Different levels of classes are concerned, but pupils in technical school have to deal with school difficulties and do not often get the opportunity to travel as much as the pupils in classical section . What’s more , students preparing a vocational training certificate in international trade have to make their internship in foreign countries.
A HIGH SCHOOL OPENED worldwide
• We led this year an e-twinning project in
Management (CLIL English) with a Greek class and
a technical section European group (grade 11). The
theme was "Work and Life Balance". We have
practiced as much as possible with software and
web applications through a wiki space. All the
pupils created their QR Codes with their name,
interests and plans for the future
(http://qrstuff.com). we reviewed and discussed
what makes or does not make a company profile
attractive for employees. They shared their
opinions using padlet.com, they created a
wordcloud (http://tagxedo.com). pupils exchanged
opinions on what constitutes and ideal company
and how to make it attractive. They imagined a
Company. They characterized it, created its logo
and motto, they made a short video
(domoanimate.com), they created a press release,
wrote job offers, prepared interviews. They
eventually made their Company presentation,
defined the values, the strategy and its vision
(http://smore.com). They created videos, shared
information about Greece crisis, unemployment,
they exchange information about the different
backgrounds, the specificities of Reunion island.
They created different glogsters glogster.com.
• For this project , our high school was rewarded by
being granted the European label (we were the
only ones on the island )
