PARISH NEWS
***** FROM THE PASTOR:
DSA SUPPORT APPEAL 2017: Your pledge to the Diocesan Support
Appeal is shared with the educational, multicultural, vocational, housing,
and social service ministries of the diocese. Thousands of people depend on
your generosity. You may complete a pledge envelope and return it to the
Parish Office or go to www.charlottediocese.org to make a gift online. If you have not yet made a
gift to the DSA this year, please give prayerful consideration to determine an amount that you are
proud to give. As of today ONLY 76 of 265 parish families have contributed $21,951.04. We
need each of you to help us reach our goal of $24,484.00. Thank you for all of your efforts!
PRIESTS’ RETIREMENT & BENEFIT COLLECTION: The annual collection for Priests’
Retirement and Benefits is scheduled for this weekend, September 16 – 17. Your contribution to

faithfully. The Diocesan assessment for St. Benedict’s is $7,924.00.

Faith Formation News
It is not too late to register your children
ages 4-18yrs.
Please see Lynne McGrath to pick up a registration packet
ALTAR SERVERS NEEDED: All Masses need Altar Servers. It is always
rewarding to see a child’s love for his or her faith grow stronger as they accept
the responsibility of a ministry such as this. As adults, we also feel a rewarding
experience knowing that we had a part in this growth. Pease contact Fr. Duc or
Amy Nutt at 336-272-0303 to answer any questions you may have regarding this
ministry. Thank you for your time, looking forward to hearing from you.
CROP HUNGER WALKS help to provide food and water, as well as
resources that empower people to meet their own needs. From seeds and
tools, to wells and water systems, to technical training and micro-enterprise
loans, the key is people working together to identify their own development
priorities, their strengths and their needs. In addition, the Greater Greensboro
CROP Hunger Walk & Run returns 25% of the funds it raises to Greensboro
Urban Ministry's Potter's House Community Kitchen. Please join St.
Benedict Youth Group on Sunday, October 15th as we “Walk. Give. Change
the world.” For more information call Lynne McGrath at 336-272-0303.
BIBLE STUDY will resume on Tuesday, September 19th. Please join us in the parish hall from
7:00PM-8:00PM as we study the Book of Romans. All are welcome.
NEW CHURCH DIRECTORY: Sign-up for photos for our new Church Directory will begin
this weekend. Sign-up sheets are located at all doors. Please reserve your date and time for this
important Church Project. Photos will be taken on Thursday, September 28th and Friday,
September 29th from 2:00PM to 8:40PM and on Saturday, September 30
th from 10:00AM to
4:00PM. Please bring a canned food to your photo session and you will receive a $5.00 credit
toward your photo purchase. All participating parishioners will receive an 8 x 10 photo and a
parish directory at no charge. Please help make this project a success! Thank you.

QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Who needs my forgiveness? How might I start a “ripple of
forgiveness” that could expand to a global tidal wave of unending forgiveness?
