Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I’ve heard that phrase just about
all my life and have never really doubted it. I love food. I love breakfast food. So
why skip breakfast? I headed out to my local Vons this week to pick up a few of
the essentials for breakfast in the morning.
The first thing I always look for when I’m shopping is my coffee. I buy a few
different brands but try to stick with what’s on sale and what I have a coupon for.
With coffee taken care of for mom, it’s time to think about breakfast ideas that are
great for both me and the kids. And they have to be something I can make in less
than 5 minutes. That’s where my favorite cereals come in to play. Not only is cereal
portable, it’s super tasty and filled with whole grains. What is our family favorite?

When I think of breakfast my mind wanders to beautiful plates of eggs that have
been lovingly prepared and are accompanied by seasonal fruit, buttered toast and
the occasional serving of bacon. Okay, so maybe that’s a reality once a week in
our home.
I recently picked up a new Honey Nut Cheerios medley which is like a hybrid
between Honey Nut Cheerios and one of those cereals with flakes and clusters
in it. To up that vitamin intake I’ve been throwing in different fruit like bananas,
strawberries, blackberries and raisins.

I like to feed my kids a solid breakfast but school mornings can be so rushed.
Getting five kids out the door isn’t always an easy feat. This week I decided to get
a bit more creative with a simple but quick breakfast that can even be eaten on the
go if needed.
I shopped for some standard breakfast items {yep, I had to go for the Lucky
Charms since St. Patrick’s Day is coming up} ... and made homemade cereal bars
{scroll to the end of this post for the recipe}. My kids loved these cereal bars and
I felt good about giving them something different that included a boost of protein.
The cereal bars take less than five minutes to mix up and just need a bit of time in
the fridge to get firm. And they’d work well with any kind of cereal.
Once firm, I cut the pan into bars, set the bars in cupcake wrappers, and wrapped
them in twine for a fun appearance. You could also pre-cut them and place them in
baggies to make them easy to grab in the morning.

When I heard about Safeway’s Buy 4 Save $4 event, I knew this was the perfect
time to stock up for quick weekday breakfasts. Because my kids love grocery
shopping, I decided to take them with me as I took advantage of Safeway’s Buy 4
Save $4 promotion so they could pick their own breakfasts for the week. I let my
daughter do most of the deciding on what items we all would eat.
I was thrilled when she figured out which tags went with the sale and then used
that to narrow down her favorites. She finally chose Mini Wheats because it would
be something that she and daddy both liked. Many cereals are great without milk
and perfect for on the go. Pre-pour little snack baggies or little containers full of dry
cereal and always have it easy to grab as you leave the house.
Knowing how easy the mornings have been with all the great on-the-go items we
got during the Buy 4 Save $4 promotion has got me convinced I need to keep
these in stock at all times. The fact that they can get and serve their own breakfast
and have foods they can eat quickly at the house as well as on the road makes
our whole morning routine less stressful for everyone.

Breakfast is such an important and necessary start to a child’s morning. I always
make sure my daughter either has breakfast at home or has healthy options to eat
on the go. Thanks to Safeway and their Rise and Shine with Savings sale, I was
able to save money and make sure I have great options for breakfast for the week.
While shopping at Safeway earlier this week, I took advantage of the Buy 4 Save
$4 sale and picked up a couple of breakfast items. I wouldn’t normally consider
pop-tarts our go to breakfast because of the sugary frosting although they were a
daily breakfast for me growing up. I was surprised to discover you can purchase
pop-tarts without frosting. Yummy and healthy! Yogurt is such an easy option to
throw in my purse so I’m also getting it for a healthy breakfast at school. The fruit
snacks have nothing to do with our breakfast routine but my daughter loves them
and they were part of the sale!

Breakfast is probably the most important meal of the day. It recharges both the
brain and body, and boosts your metabolism in the process! This is why even
during the most chaotic mornings I make sure both my son and I have a breakfast
to enjoy.
Normally I find myself eating the same bowl of milk and cereal every morning.
Okay, actually it’s more half eating my breakfast, while half putting on makeup
or straight-ironing my hair. This routine starts to get stale. I knew there had to be
other easy and fast breakfast options out there!
Currently Safeway is having a Buy 4 Save $4 sale! Now through March 5th, just
look for the yellow Buy 4 Save $4 tag on specially marked items and save! As I
browsed around the store, it was great to see so many breakfast items as part of
this promotion. Then came the real test of an actual rushed morning where I had to
prepare breakfast for both of us. I was happy that the items I purchased during the
Buy 4 Save $4 sale could be eaten quickly at home or on the go!

My local Vons location is a store I have visited since I was old enough to sit in
the cart seat, and still bring my family to today. As it turns out, this week’s Vons
circular has a main banner promoting one of their more popular promotions, the
Buy 4 Save $4 event, which features some wonderful name brands to create an
everyday breakfast on a budget. Does it get any better than pairing a great deal
with a great meal?
This week there were some excellent Breakfast Savings on our family’s everyday
favorites like International Delight coffee creamer and Silk Soymilk (an everyday
low price at $2.79). There were many wonderful cereal brands in the Buy 4 Save
$4 promotion (which covers 35 products in total), including 8 flavors of Frosted
Mini-Wheats.
I’m thankful my family loves to share in treasured traditions of grocery shopping
together; and that we can all gather around the table for an affordable everyday
breakfast, thanks to smart savings like the Vons Buy 4 Save $4 promotion.

No matter how you start your day, making time for breakfast is always a good
decision. A morning meal helps ensure your child can stay focused at school
and it helps adults stay alert at work too. I can honestly say that I would be a
mess without coffee and cereal in the morning.
During our last Safeway shopping trip, we saved a few dollars on breakfast
items with the Rise and Shine with the Savings Deal. When you buy four
of the items in the promotion, you get $4 off. I purchased a few basics like
Seattle’s Best coffee, Frosted Flakes and Silk Soy Milk in addition to a box of
granola bars. As a side benefit, I also received a $0.10 fuel reward (because
we spent over $100 on our groceries), so I saved a few dollars when filling the
car’s gas tank before heading home.
There is some truth to the saying that breakfast is the most important meal of
the day. It helps give you the energy you and your family need and it is a great
opportunity to bond over a bowl of cereal and a cup of coffee. It can be easy
to get caught up in the rush of the day, but making time for breakfast is always
a great idea.

Pairing up green smoothies with items that are easy to take on-the-go makes
breakfast a no-brainer on my part. Two of my favorite items are Nature Valley
Granola Bars {my kids LOVE these!} and more recently belVita Breakfast Biscuits
{my boys think these are cookies}. We happened to be out of both so I headed
over to Safeway to do some shopping while Chris took the boys over to Fairytale
Town. Reece had a Super Hero Class there today and he had so much fun! I had
all kinds of fun too as I picked up all kinds of breakfast items and took advantage
of Safeway’s Buy 4 Save $4 and loaded up on our favorites! Nothing I like more
than Breakfast Savings!
The boys actually prefer the ‘Berry Green Smoothie’ but they really do like both.
Packed full of antioxidants from the blueberries and strawberries, it is a sweeter
alternative to the Peanut Butter Banana Green Smoothie. I use juice in this recipe
instead of milk, and if I’m feeling extra generous, about a teaspoon of honey gets
thrown in making sure the boys down their smoothies with a smile on their face.
Which of these recipes do you think your kids would most enjoy? What about you?

We are not the type of family that skips breakfast. We all eat and like breakfast
and I am glad for that. We like a simple everyday breakfast in our house. I also
like to save money while shopping. We often eat the same foods for breakfast
and can easily get into a breakfast rut. For me it is some form of toast and
yogurt. My husband eats oatmeal almost daily. My Princess eats cereal – she
loves cereal.
Safeway is offering an amazing Buy 4 Save $4 sale in a Rise and Shine with
Savings promotion. I went shopping with my Princess over the weekend and was
able to not only find great breakfast products but also products that will make an
easy St. Patrick’s Day breakfast for my Princess.
Trix and Silk Soymilk are part of the Buy 4 Save $4 deal at Safeway. I wanted
my Princess to pick out Lucky Charms but she saw this specially marked box of
Trix with a free DVD and could not pass it up. It worked though. It is quite colorful
– much like a rainbow. We colored our Very Vanilla Silk Soymilk with green dye
(that was fun for her!).

I always wanted to be Super Mom. I wanted to wake up early, make a huge
breakfast, and greet my family with a hot meal and a huge smile. I wanted
that. Now, I want to make it through breakfast without food on the walls and
carpet or a toddler meltdown.
When I realized that our breakfast supply was almost depleted this week, I
took a trip to Dominick’s to stock up and take advantage of the Buy 4 Save
$4 Promotion that is going on. I was pleasantly surprised that so many of our
favorite breakfast items and snacks were all included in the sale. I always
have a relaxing and stress free trip when I shop at Dominick’s. And when
I realized that I save over $40 on all of our favorite breakfast foods, I was
especially pleased.
An easy breakfast routine, with minimal cooking, and simple options is what
works best for my family.

Recently, I was sick and out of commission for over a week. Peter did an awesome
job keeping the household going but our pantry took a hit. We ran out of milk and
eggos and were low on cereal – GASP! Luckily Safeway has a great Rise & Shine
Savings promotion happening right now. Buy 4 participating breakfast items and
save $4. After taking stock of our empty pantry and perusing the Safeway ad, I
made my list.
I ended up buying quite a few things we needed but my main focus was easy
breakfast food for the boys. Thankfully Cheerios was included in the Buy 4, Save
$4 deal. Elliot eats original Cheerios and Quinn eats Honey Nut Cheerios – aka
“Daddy’s Favorite Cheerios.” Since I had Peter covered with the Honey Nut
Cheerios, I grabbed a box of Kellogg’s Frosted Mini Wheats for me! I even saved
an extra $0.30 per box of cereal with my personalized Just4U deal!
The boys were so excited to see their favorite cereal back in the pantry they had
to have it as a bedtime snack. We even spoiled them with a glass of chocolate Silk
Soy Milk. :-)

“Breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” How many times did we
hear that growing up? And how many of us repeat that same saying to our
own children? I’m sure there are a lot of us! With a big family, we are on a tight
budget, so I take advantage of good deals whenever I have the opportunity.
Right now, there is an awesome deal at your local Safeway!
Right now, at your local Safeway, Vons, Pavilions, Tom Thumb Randalls,
Genuardi’s or Dominicks, you can take advantage of the Buy 4 Save $4
promotion. You can choose from over 35 items; but remember, you must
purchase 4 items in order to receive the $4.00 promotion.
So, what did I have in my shopping cart when I headed to checkout? I picked up
a variety of cereals, including Kellogg’s Corn Pops, General Mills Lucky Charms,
and a Special Edition General Mills Lucky Charms for St. Patrick’s Day, plus
General Mills Honey Nut Cheerios. Normally these cereals would have been on
sale for $2.99 each, but with the Buy 4 Save $4 Promotion, I got them for only
$1.99 each. And let me tell you, there were a ton of cereals to choose from!
