techniques from innovative design to efficient and low cost manufacturing. We pride ourselves
in customer service and we will insure that you talk to a qualified company employee and not
voice mail! At ABCO we focus on Technical Innovations, High Quality DOMESTIC
Manufacturing, and Customer Responsiveness. For over 70 years ABCO has based its success
on one aspect our people. According to company president, Robert C. Anderson, “The
Company considers the employees it’s most important asset and the primary reason for
success”. (Bob Anderson)
Our beginning dates back to 1931 when R. C. Anderson first offered the KANTLEAK® valves.
His basic premise was to provide an inherently sound design, rooted in simplicity that would
provide leak free service for a reasonable price. Today, with a third generation Anderson still
leading the company, those same values are constantly being applied to every product built. The
KANTLEAK® concept has since grown to a complete line of instrumentation ball valves, needle
valves, checks valves, and even actuated valves. We are intent on advancing the state-of-the art
in instrumentation valving and you can look to ABCO for innovative designs for years to come!

product, machinery or loss of time in the manufacturing process. The following mandates are
enforce and must be followed by all employees while work is being performed. Please note that
this appendix is subject to change or expansion at any time. These mandates are set forth as
Anderson Brass Company’s Safety program, failure to adhere to any of the mentioned mandates

Dock Door Chains: Each dock door at Anderson Brass Company is equipped with yellow
chains that are to be secured when the door is open and a truck is not in the dock. These chains
are designed to ensure that personnel do not accidently walk off the dock
Hearing protection: Ear plugs, are required to work in the Rod Room while machinery is
operating. This area of the plant is the only area requiring ear protection the company will
provide ear plugs to employees assigned to work in this area.
Hair Nets: Some operations require that operators or set-up personnel assigned to them properly
use hairnets. This is due to the rotary action of the machine, making it possible for one’s hair
(especially in cases where the individual has long hair) to become entangled in the machine
leading to the possibility of employee having their hair forcibly pulled out. For this reason any
rotatory driven power tool in the plant will require assigned personnel to properly wear hair
netting to prevent this from occurring. Operations include but are not limited to screw drivers,
nut driver’s presses, grinding operations, any power application where longer hair could become
entangled. This rule applies to personnel with hair in excess of 3 inches long.
Access prevention chains: Certain areas of the plant have yellow chains in place to prevent
personnel from entering unauthorized areas. These chains must never be taken down or removed,
manipulated as to allow personnel access to restricted areas.
Duel Palm Engagement Buttons: All operator controlled machinery in the plant is equipped
with dual palm engagement buttons to ensure that both hands are free and clear from moving
parts during mechanism engagement. These buttons must not be circumvented or manipulated
9
under any circumstance. Any person found to be responsible for circumventing or bypassing
these devices intentionally may be terminated without further warning.
Cell Phones/ personal Electronic Devices/ IPods/MP3 players Etc.: Use of these devices for
the purpose of listening to music engaging in conversation with friends and family while during
work hours is prohibited. Most operations in the plant require that employees are paying
attention to their surroundings; these devises pose a distraction and an unnecessary safety risk.
Personnel on the production floor in any area found to be using such devises will be asked to turn
off the item and refrain from using it further. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action
up to and including termination of employment.
Hoodies/sweaters with Hoods: Hoodies or any hood item is prohibited on the production floor
in any area; these items have the potential of reducing ones field of vision and hindering ability
to react to situations. They are additionally often used so as to allow the employee the ability to
violate the electronic devise mandate without being seen. Any employee found to be wearing any
such item will be asked to remove it and refrain from doing so again in the future. Failure to do
so may result in disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Spotters and Fork truck operation; any time a fork truck is in use in the plant that driver shall
have a spotter present to ensure that the driver is operating safety and is able be warned in the
event that something or someone is close to making contact with the truck. This rule applies to
all areas of the plant where personnel are working, all isles, anytime the fork truck is operating
with the forks extended above the driver’s field of vision. All forklift operators will have
successfully navigated the certification program and have been deemed certified prior to
operating fuck trucks.
Guards: All machines in the plant have some form of safety guard in place, removal of safety
guards. Operating machine without the safety guard in place is a direct violation of company
safety mandate. Employees found to be in violation of this policy may be disciplined up to and
including termination of employment.
Horseplay: Employees are expected to work during work periods; horseplay is dangerous and
costly to the organization. Employees found to be engaging in acts of horseplay may be subject
to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.

employer, supervisor or manager. Anderson Brass Company mandates certain activities for the
purpose of producing a safe and tranquil place of employment free from unnecessary or harmful
distractions. Employees that are insubordinate pose an immediate concern to this environment;
therefore this activity will not be tolerated. Employees found to be acting in afore mentioned
manners may be subject to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment.
Lifting: Improper lifting on the job can easily cause injury to employees and lead to costly
situations for the company. When employees are task with lifting as part of their job duties it is
imperative that it is done so in the proper manner. First feet should be planted evenly and
positioned directly beneath the load that is to be picked up. Secondly bend at the knees keeping
the back straight once the load is grasp with the hands begin to lift upwards ensuring that the
back remains straight. Never attempt to lift more than you are comfortable with and always
ensure that the load you are carrying does not impact your field of vision. If you feel that you are
unable to lift an item that you were instructed to do so make your supervisor aware as to allow
for alternative solutions to be arranged.
Authorized work Areas and visitors: Because of certain job functions requiring specialized
training and additional PPE, employees are required to only enter areas that they have been
authorized or instructed to do so. This is designed to prevent potential harm to personnel or
equipment resulting from individuals being in areas that they are not trained to be in. This
includes quests of employees coming into the plant to see an employee. Persons found in areas
that they are not authorized to be in will be escorted out of those areas, future violations of this
mandate may lead to disciplinary action up to and including termination of employment. All
visitors must report to the front office immediately upon their arrival to the plant. Reception will
notify Human Resources who will make a decision as to whether the guest should be allowed in
the plant.

aid responders, these employees respond to all illness and injury situations in the plant. It is
important for these people to have access to injured or sick employees in the event of an
emergency. If you witness something that requires the service of a responder please let your set-
up person or supervisor know so that the right person can get to the affected person or persons.
Under no circumstances should an employee that is not a responder attempt to treat an ill or
injured.
Blood borne Pathogens: because of the potential risk of infection, and health laws protecting
individual personal health information. Do not touch or handle anything suspected of containing
bodily fluid or blood. Please notify a first aid responder

gloves can be effective in areas where lifting is necessary there are more problematic in other
functions such as working with Lathes and rotating power machinery of any kind. Set-up
personnel and supervisors will advise personnel when placed on an operation as to whether
gloves are acceptable on that application and to the type authorized.
