Dear Sisters and Brothers in the Lord, Welcome to Sacred Heart Church!
Thanks for joining our worshiping community as we celebrate our Eucharistic Liturgy for the Fourth Sunday in Ordinary Time. You bless us through your presence and prayerful
participation. May the Liturgy of the Word enlighten your mind and the Liturgy of the Eucharist nourish your faith. As I struggle to accept the fact that this weekend closes out the month of January, I am conscious that Lent is fast approaching. Lent begins next week, as we celebrate Ash Wednesday on February 10. As we have done in past years, a purple packet has been provided for each family. You can pick up the purple packet at the doors of the Church, wherein you will find information on a variety of Lenten opportunities for your spiritual enrichment. Consider joining one of the nine faith sharing groups listed on the flyer for Faith Sharing Groups. Each group will be using “Rediscover Jesus” for their faith sharing each week. The forty short chapters are to be read over the forty days of Lent, stopping weekly to exchange insights and reflections on what was read. Check out times and days for a group that fits your schedule. Join us on Saturday, February 27, when Sister Meg Brown, RSM will guide us during a morning retreat (9:00am-12:00n) on Celtic Spirituality. This is a great opportunity to slow down, take time to quiet your spirit and be informed on Celtic Spirituality. During Lent, there will be a presentation on the Year of Mercy, three dates for a Contemplative Prayer Holy Hour, a Penance Service and Stations of the Cross on Tuesdays at 7:00pm. Stations were changed to Tuesday evening, thinking it might be more convenient than Friday for parishioners.
Take a few minutes this week to check out all we have planned for the Lenten Season. These are opportunities to enrich your spiritual lives, to lift your spirit! Plan now to participate!!! Peace be with you! God bless,
Fr. McKee
