Sacagawea was born in 1788, in Lemhi County, Idaho.y

Died in 1812 in Fort Manuel at the age of 24.

Sacagawea's father was a Shoshone chief, who was very y

well respected.

At age 12 she was captured by enemy tribes and sold to y

French-Canadian trapper.

Sacagawea was captured by the Hidatsa and the Mandan

Indian tribes.

Eventually the two got married on November 1804, she was invited to join the Lewis and

Clark expedition as a Shoshone inturpiterShoshone inturpiter.

Sacagawea was needed for an interpreter, because Lewis pand Clark were traveling through territorial land.

Sacagawea and her husband lived with the Hidatsa and

Mandan Indian tribes in the upper Missouri River

area(present day North area(present day North Dakota).

When they were traveling west she found that that her

brother was a chief of a tribe up west.

If Sacagawea had not been with Lewis and Clark they y

would have been doing the whole expedition by foot, but Sacagawea got them horsesSacagawea got them horses.

Sacagawea helped navigate and quiet fears. She spoke to q pthe Shoshone tribes, because Lewis and Clark didn’t know

A year later they reached the Pacific Coast in November of

1805. There they built Fort Clatsop to stay in the winter.

in present day Astoria, Oregon.

Sacagawea and her son Pomp went to visit Clark in St. Louis.

Her son Pomp was left in Clarks custody.

When Sacagawea had her second child named Lisette.

She was also left in Clarks custody. Three years later Sacagawea died in 1812Sacagawea died in 1812.
