FAITH FORMATION NEWS
Monthly Packets - Packet pick up is this weekend October 24/25
after both Masses. If you did not get your packet, please contact
Leslie Reagle to coordinate a time to pick up your child’s packet
for November. We will be doing activities highlighting All Saints
Day.
Prayer Focus - Praying for the dead - especially those in our own
families. In the Christian liturgical calendar, November is en-
tirely devoted to the deceased. That’s why it is dubbed “Month
of the Dead”. Most celebrations occur at the beginning of the
month: November 1st is All Saints’ Day, a tribute to all saints,
while November 2nd is All Souls’ Day, dedicated to praying for
the dead.
2nd Grade - Fact to face classes for our 2nd grade students con-
tinues. It is every Sunday from 9am - 10:15am.
Tuition - We still have a few families who did not pay for reli-
gious education - if you are able to do this please put it in an en-
velope and put it in the collection basket indicating it is for Faith
Formation. This helps cover the cost of books and printing costs.
$20 per child, $60 per family max. Please return your registration
papers if you have not done that as well. We want to wrap up
collecting registration papers and fee collections this month.
Thank you.

Thirtieth Sunday in Ordinary Time October 25, 2020
Feast of Saint Simon and Saint Jude,
Apostles
October 28th is the feast of Saint Simon the
Zealot and Saint Jude Thaddeus, two of the
twelve Apostles named by Jesus. They share
a common feast day because, according to
later tradition, they ministered in Persia and
there, received the crown of martyrdom on the same day in c.
65AD.

ALL SAINTS’ DAY
All Saints’ Day, also called All Hal-
lows’ Day, Hallowmas, or Feast of All
Saints, in the Christian Church, a day
commemorating all the saints of the
Church, both known and unknown, who
have attained heaven. It is celebrated on
November 1st, and is a holy day of obligation.
The origin of All Saints’ Day cannot be traced with certainty, and
it has been observed on various days in different places. A feast
of all martyrs was kept on May 13 in the Eastern church accord-
ing to Ephraem Syrus, which may have determined the choice of
May 13 by Pope Boniface IV when he dedicated the Pantheon in
Rome as a church in honor of the Blessed Virgin and all martyrs
in 609. The first evidence for November 1 date of celebration and
of the broadening of the festival to include all saints as well as all
martyrs occurred during the reign of Pope Gregory III, who dedi-
cated a chapel in St. Peter’s, Rome on November 1 in honor of all
saints.

Realign Resources for Mission Meeting
On Monday November 16th at 7:00pm the Diocese of Lansing
Realign Resources for Mission Committee will be meeting with
St. Catherine Laboure and Queen of the Miraculous Medal parish-
ioners in an effort to explain the reason, rational and methodology
of the Realign Resources for Mission process and, most impor-
tantly, to listen to parishioners response of the process and how it
could, potentially, impact our parish positivity or negatively.
The meeting will take place at Queen’s Gym and will be ap-
proximately 90 minutes long. The meeting will consist of two
components: First, a presentation on behalf of the RRM Commit-
tee; Second, small group discussion followed by feedback from
parishioners on your hopes and fears for the process; what you
love or feel needs to be known about our parish; and any specific
suggestions you may have for the future of our parish and the
diocese. All are most welcome.
