WENDE sings WINTERREISEBoudewijn Tarenskeen / WENDE / Gerard BouwhuisWende Snijders is Holland’s most versatile singer
and she is embarking on a brand-new adventure with
composer Boudewijn Tarenskeen, who has extensively
reworked Schubert’s famed Winterreise (a setting of
poems by Wilhelm Müller). His contemplative sound
universe is a perfect foil for WENDE’s explosive
musical personality. ‘Shocking as well as fascinating,’
commented NRC Handelsblad.
Jef Neve Trio & guestPianist Jef Neve is regarded as the boy wonder
of Belgian contemporary jazz, with an itch for
everything new and exciting. And yet he never
loses sight of pure lyricism and aural beauty.

Kosminen. Pohjonen has earlier performed the piece
with the Kronos Quartet. ‘Big waves of sound build in
complexity, animation and sometimes sheer frenzy,’
wrote the New York Times.

Private ViewAnnelies van Parys / Neue Vocalsolisten / Asko|SchönbergThursday 5 NovemberTaking Hitchcock’s work as a starting point, Private
View by Music Theatre Transparant is an opera
brimming with suspense; just like a full-blooded
thriller. The 33 1/3 Collective has added sensuous
film images. According to de Volkskrant, ‘Director
Tom Creed beautifully merges voices, colours,
characters, and visuals.’ (****).
Julia Holter Saturday 7 NovemberSinger Julia Holter is one of the most electrifying
rock artists around. Together with her band, she
produces an idiosyncratic mix of art rock, ambient
music, avant-garde and folk. Not surprisingly, the
trend setting website Pitchfork invariably labels

inter-genre musical melting pot. Rhythms and
melodies from Anatolia mix with jazzy influences

contemporary music.
Ambrose Akinmusire Quartet & Lunatree The Imagined Savoir is Far Easier to Paint Thursday 5 NovemberReviewers waxed lyrically as soon as Blue Note
released The Imagined Savoir by trumpet player
Ambrose Akinmusire. Owing to the line-up – jazz
ensemble plus strings and vocalists – it is a rare
opportunity for this successful album to be heard live.
At November Music, the Dutch ensemble Lunatree
joins forces with the American trumpet player as
part of Trance Music avant la lettre.

inimitable style of composing. His ‘musique concrète
instrumentale’ has influenced numerous young
composers. Yannis Kyriakides and Wilbert Bulsink
take on the challenge to reflect on Lachenmann’s
work. An orchestra, string quartet, special musical
collaborations and the master himself will perform
‘the greatest hits’.
