2008-2009
In 2008 I have started with a series of abstract paintings. I wanted to elaborate on the character
from the recent red, black and white paintings, but I had a strong urge to use more colours. In
these colourful paintings you can hardly recognise anything f igurative, these paintings derive
their strength from expressive colours, the composit ion and treatment of the material . Even in
this series there is always a recognisable horizon, enhanced by the fact that big blue parts in the
upper half of the painting remind you of skies. Primari ly they show an almost graphical character
but in the end they become more l ike paintings. The use of newspapers in the background shows
a deep structure in the image. In the recent paintings stronger f igurative elements evolve out of
the colors. This series is pursued by a series with clearly recognisable faces and human shapes.
