Magma

Melted rock that is inside the earth.

LavaMelted rock that is on top of the earth’s surface

Sedimentary RockRocks made from layers of

weathered bits of shells, rocks, and minerals.

Igneous RockRocks that are formed when

melted rock from inside the earth cools and hardens.

Metamorphic RockRocks that form when existing rocks

are heated and squeezed deep inside the Earth.

Compact/CompactionWhen layers of sediment are closely and

firmly packed together. Usually due to the top layers putting pressure on the layers underneath.

WeatheringThe breaking down of rocks, soil,

and minerals by exposing them to water, oxygen, wind, ice, and other outside forces.

ProductA physical “thing” that has weight and takes up space. (noun)
