Concepts of ScienceThis Secon of RobotriX Kids covers a wide study of science including all the basic science Principles like:
• Levers• Classes of Levers• Friction• Reducing Friction• Volcano• Gravity• Magnet• Properties of a magnet• Static Electricity

Did you know?
Lever Systems
A lever is a beam connected to ground by a pivot, called a fulcrum. The ideal lever does not dissipate or store energy, which means there is no friction in the hinge or bending in the beam. In this case, the power into the lever equals the power out, and the ratio of output to input force is given by the ratio of the distances from the fulcrum to the points of application of these forces. This is known as the “law of the lever”.
Law of the lever
The lever is a movable bar that pivots on a fulcrum attached to fixed point. The lever operates by applying forces at different distances from the fulcrum, or a pivot. Assuming the lever does not dissipate or store energy, the power into the lever must equal the power out of the lever. Levers can be used to exert a large force over a small distance at one end that results in the greater power at the output. A lever amplifies an input force to provide a greater output force, which is said to provide “leverage” .

Did you know?
What is FrictionIf you rub your hands together for several seconds, you'll notice that your hands feel warm. That warmth is caused by a force called friction. When objects like your hands come in contact and move against each other, they produce friction. Friction happens when you overcome the resistance of one object rubbing against the other. The force of the friction is opposite in direction to the direction of the motion. If you just put your hands together, there's no resistance, so there's no friction produced. Rub them together and there's friction.

Did you know?
Reducing FrictionGo soap up your hands and rub them together. Less heat right? That's because the soap reduces the roughness of the surface of your hands. It makes your hands smoother. This reduces the resistance between your hands and the friction. It's almost impossible to produce heat. The soap acts as a lubricant. Lubricants are used to reduce friction. That's why there's oil in your car. The oil allows the metal parts in the engine to slide against one another more easily. This prevents heat from building up, which can damage the engine.

Make a VolcanoIn this experiment, we will learn how to make a baking soda volcano. The eruption in a baking soda volcano takes place by acid-base reaction. Here, Baking Soda is a base and vinegar is acid.
What you'll need:• Modeling Clay• Empty soda bottle• 2 Table Spoons Baking Soda• 200 ML Vinegar• Food coloring (optional)
Instrucons1. Place the empty soda bottle on a flat surface.2. Make a volcano around empty bottle using modeling clay.3. After making the volcano, put 2-3 table spoons of baking soda in bottle.4. After that, carefully pour vinegar in the bottle. You can also add food coloring to vinegar.

What's Happening
9
When Baking Soda comes in contact with vinegar, an acid-base reaction is taking place. In this reaction, CO2 gas is released. The same gas is released when a real volcanic eruption is taking place.

Stac Electricity ExperimentThey say opposites attract and that couldn't be truer with these fun static electricity experiments. Find out about positively and negatively charged particles using a few basic items, can you control if they will be attracted or unattracted to each other?
What you'll need:
Instrucons
10
• Hair Comb• Paper Bits
1. Comb your hair using a hair comb for 1-2 minutes.2. Place 5-6 small paper bits on a table .3. Now, bring the hair comb on top of paper bits.4. After that, bring the comb near to a slow stream running from a water tap.

Did you know?
What's Happening
11
By combing your hair, you are actually creating static electricity. This involves negatively charged particles jumping to positively charged objects. When you rub comb against your hair, or a fabric, it becomes negatively charged. Whereas, the charge present on Paper Bits and water stream is positive in nature. Opposite charges attract each other. So, you will notice that paper bits stick to the comb and water stream is attracted towards the comb.

MagnetsA Magnet is a substance that attracts iron materials towards itself. This is the most basic application of a magnet. A magnet has 2 poles- North Pole and South Pole. The North Pole of a magnet is marked with a white dot. When suspended, the North Pole of a magnet points towards the Earth's Geographic South Pole. That is why magnets are widely used in compass for determining directions.
12
Some basic areas of applications for magnets are:
1. Toys2. Compass3. Sound devices
Apart from these, magnets are also used in generators and motors

Home Made HovercraA hovercraft, also known as an air-cushion vehicle or ACV, is a craft capable of traveling over land, water, mud or ice and other surfaces both at speed and when stationary. In this Project, we will learn how to make a hovercraft using a balloon and CD.
What you'll need:
Instrucons
1. Old CD2. Bottle Cap3. Balloon4. Glue
1. Make a hole in center of Bottle cap.2. Fix the Bottle cap in the center of CD.3. Inflate the Balloon.4. Mount the Balloon on Bottle cap.5. Place the CD on a flat surface and watch your hovercraft glide.

Did you know?
What’s HappeningThe air is rushing out from the hole made in bottle cap creating a pocket of air under the CD that enables your balloon hovercraft to glide freely on a flat surface. It looks like as shown below.

Soap Bubble MakerBubbles are a lot of fun. you might have seen people blowing bubbles in a carnival. In this experiment, we will learn how to make Soap bubbles at home itself.
What you'll need:
Instrucons
1. Liquid Detergent2. stiff wire3. small container4. water
1. Fill 1/3rd of the container with liquid detergent.2. After that, pour water into the container.3. Make a loop of wire that you are using from one end. Bigger the loop, bigger the size of bubble.4. Dip the loop in the solution that you just prepared.5. Slowly blow air from your mouth in loop.

Did you know?
16
What's HappeningA film of soap is formed around the loop. This phenomena is known as "Surface Tension". when we blow the film inside the loop, the soap is released and takes the shape of a bubble because spherical shape is the most stable shape.

Electric Motor
17
• An Electric motor is a machine used to convert Electrical Energy into Mechanical Motion. • In an electrical motor the moving part is called the rotor and the stationary part is called the stator.• Motor uses magnets to create north pole and south pole.• DC motor operate on DC power supply.

Gears
Spur gears or straight-cut gears are the simplest type of gear. They consist of a cylinder or disk with the teeth projecting radially.
Spur Gear
SpacerSpacer can be made up of plastic or rubber material which is used to create a gap between metal plate and shaft rod. In case of creating an insulation between power distribution and robot body then it can be used.
