ROBOHAWKS 2531 SAFETY

PRESENTATION So you don’t accidentally kill yourself in robotics

Common Sense◦Use common sense. If you don’t know what it is don’t touch it!

ppl with common sense ppl who don’t survive

Personal Safety (PPE)◦Wear safety glasses at all times; when in the shop, working on a robot, using

machinery, or at a competition.

◦Dress appropriately; long pants, closed toe shoes, no baggy clothes, hair tied back (if applicable).

◦ You must consult a mentor before using heavy machinery and act with caution, especially if it is new and unfamiliar to you.

Respect◦ Clean up your workspace before you leave. Do not expect others to clean up after

you.

◦ Be kind to other students, respect their contributions and ideas.

◦ Respect the mentors. Remember, they are taking time out of their own evening to come and help us.

Consequences◦Notify a captain 24hrs in advance if you will not be at a meeting. Failure to do so

will result in a strike. Three strikes and you’re out.

◦ If you fail to uphold all or any of our rules, a corresponding consequence will be applied which may include termination from the team.

FIRST Values◦ FIRST Robotics Competition has adopted safety as a core value and has established

the framework for safety leadership in all aspects of the program. (FIRST Safety Manual)
