• Advanced studies option for middle school students which builds skills, knowledge, and understanding in English language arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies

• Designed to meet the needs of the most advanced learner with an emphasis on creativity, innovation, and scholarly discourse

• Students develop the skills and content knowledge necessary to meet the demands of advanced course work and ultimately transition successfully to the high school setting

Criteria for Participation:• Eligibility for gifted services*, and/or• Level of 4 or 5 on the statewide assessment (2019) for both English Language Arts

and Mathematics, and• GPA of at least 3.5

Cambridge Primary participation is not necessary for entry into Cambridge Secondary

• Organizational skills are an important component of middle school success

• In 2020-21, students in grades 3-5 and 6 will have a consistent organizational system including color-coded folders and/or dividers for the various content areas (Math, English Language Arts, Social Studies, and Science)

A solid red or collared polo shirt for 6th Grade and

A polo shirt has 2-4 buttons and buttons from chest to neck. Logos, except for the IMS logo, must be 2 inches by 2 inches or smaller. Tops worn at school must be at least 3 inches below the waist band and/or tucked into waist band

Khaki or navy blue bottoms. Bottoms can be pants/slacks, shorts, skirts, skorts, or Capri pants. Bottoms may not be jeans (no denim material), leggings or jeggings, corduroy, or athletic wear

No flip-flops, backless sandals, other backless shoes, or bedroom slippers.

Students will be issued an ID badge which must be worn at all times

If students do not have their ID badge, they will get a temporary badge in the cafeteria in the morning (may lead to consequences)Replacement cost for a lost or defaced ID is $3 ($2 for the lanyard)

Students may only purchase an ID badge in the morning before school in the cafeteria
