MISSION PROJECT at the 2016 LWML-NED
A grant for Immanuel Lutheran School was selected
as a Mission Project by the delegates. We received
news that the project has been funded. In the photo
below, Gail Smuda presents Dr. Anne Stuhlman, ILS
Principal, with the LWML grant check for $5,000.
The funds will allow Immanuel to offer more schol-
arships and reach more children with the love of
Christ. Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
THE LWML-NEW ENGLAND DISTRICT
CONVENTION WILL BE HELD APRIL 13-14,
2018 at the Holiday Inn, Enfield, CT. Linda Wall
and Gail Smuda have been chosen as delegates.
Registration forms can be found in the Women of
Immanuel Mailbox in the office or on-line at

istration form.
LUTHERAN WOMEN IN MISSION
Current Missionary Need LCMS International Mission
$100,000 Jesus gives the same command today, to feed the
hungry that He gave His disciples.
Mercy Meals of Siouxland, a ministry of Faith Lu-
theran Church, Sioux City, Iowa, began packaging
fortified rice/soy meals in 2012. Mercy Meals do-
nates all packaged meals to Orphan Grain Train for
transportation and delivery to Christian organiza-
tions in many countries, including India, Haiti, Ro-
mania, and Ecuador, as well as to Navajo reserva-
tions in the Southwest and Ysleta Mission in El
Paso, Texas. Children and families receive food and
hear the Gospel of Jesus Christ. An LWML grant
will feed from 50,000 to 75,000 hungry children.
With fervent, sustained support of LCMS mission
projects, Mission Central, located in Mapleton, Io-
wa, seeks to serve as an avenue for continued sup-
port for missionaries throughout the world to pro-
claim the Gospel of Jesus Christ. This grant would
provide for a variety of necessary missionary re-
sources such as orientation and training, language
training, transportation to and in the country of ser-
vice and on furlough, various types of insurance,
housing, medical care, utilities, and education of
missionary children, to name a few.

Here it is March already and Daylight Saving Time
begins on March 11 – change your clocks ahead!
Think we can agree that we all have had enough of
winter weather. Did you know the first day of
Spring is March 20?
Our Planning Committee met in February to work on
our program of activities for our “over age 50”
group of members. Our program of six monthly
lunches on the first Thursday of the month starts
next month at 11:30 am in the old school basement,
which is handicap accessible. Everyone is welcome
at all of our events, activities and daytrips, especially
our lunches and programs.
Our first lunch of the year will be our annual Pizza
Party on Thursday, April 5 at 11:30. We will enjoy
for $5 or use your gift certificate if you have one.
We welcome Eric Larson, photographer and nature
lover, who will present an interesting program, after
lunch, on Connecticut Owls with images and sound.
If you like to play cards, step into the Parish Center
on Mondays at 1 pm and join the group having fun
there. How about visiting one of our homebound
members of Immanuel, just call so they know you
are coming to spend time with them.
Watch the glass-enclosed bulletin boards by the
parking lot gym entrance for new information, espe-
cially trips that you could join through various towns
Senior Centers. Lots of ideas and theatre information
can be found there, so stop and look.
Remember to greet one another in church on
Wednesdays and Sundays!

AT HOME AT WORK WITH THE CHURCH AT WAR
CALLED. 24/7
You are called. Above all, you ar e called to belong to Jesus Chr ist. And from that calling, you ar e also called to serve — as husbands, fathers, sons, brothers, workers, and neighbors — all to the glory of God. Our call to belong to
Christ and to serve our neighbor puts us on the front lines. In fact, to be called is no easy thing. We need to take time to
be refreshed, encouraged, and invigorated for the many challenges that face us. We encourage you to make the commit-
ment to come for this short retreat! Our prayer is that God would use this time for the blessing of our churches, families,
and places of witness in New England.
This event is open to all men high school age and above (we strongly encourage fathers or grandfathers to come with
their sons!). More information and registration forms can be found on the bulletin board across from the coat rack.
