Research on the opening of the film Twilight Saga: New Moon

o Produced by Summit Entertainment

o Non- diegetic sounds: Instrumental sound – piano (lullaby sounds), drum is

introduced to create a climax. This sounds wrongs.

o Moon centred of screen which fades to reveal the title

o - Establishes the title of ‘New Moon’

o - The text is made up of the moon

o Dialogue of Bella, whilst titles are shown; reciting a poem

o Editing – the title fades out when drum beats

o Unusual areal shot from sky to ground establishing Bella (main character)

o Bella running through a crowd of red – the contrast brings attention to her character

o Setting changes, from one place to another (Italy > a forest in USA) this creates a

dream like situation. This also contrasts from a busy city to a calm forest.

o Bright lighting, over exposed to reveal Edward’s secret

o Diegetic sound – people laughing and talking which blur.

o Has a genre of fantasy/adventure/romance

o No credits – this could be because it’s a sequel? Or a big American block buster, and

people know the cast.
