A snake is a reptile with a long body and no legs. Snakes have dry scales that help them move. Snakes have a mouth that can open very wide.

Snakes do not have ears to help them hear. A snake can feel something moving with its body. A snake can smell with its tongue.

8.

Most snakes will not hurt you. Snakes can be helpful by eating rats and insects around your house. Snakes also eat worms, frogs, mice, rabbits, fish, and eggs. Some snakes eat other snakes.

10.

Sometimes a snake can hurt you. Some snakes have large hollow teeth called fangs. Poison that goes into the fangs will hurt you if you get a snake bite.

12.

Some snakes lay eggs. Other snakes have their young born alive. Some snakes have only a few babies. Other snakes can haveup to 100 babies at

one time.
