Remedial Support• It is a class which is focused on weak students to
help the on uplifting their educational status.
• It helps to treat the grass root level problem of every individual student and initiate them equally.

Problems of students:• Most of the students have problems with subjects like English,
Mathematics and Science.
• Students failure / under performance remains ad inherent feature.
• Due to different problems girls students, are lacking behind.
• Lack of remedial teaching and sufficient remediation for struggling students.
• Inadequate study habits of students and a host of other factors.
Recommendations• Introduce a suitable home-work policy.
• Ensure sufficient remediation for struggling students.
• Ensure the public schools are adequately monitored and supervised.
• Improving status of girl’s education.
Introduction of Remedial Support• This project is an action research starting from
2009.• We have been supporting four community schools
to conduct remedial support class for grade eight in 2009.
• In the second year (2010), we supported to launch remedial support class in grade four and continued support to grade nine in the same schools.
• This year as a continuation we are supporting students from grade five and ten.

Sapaneshower Higher Secondary School, Tukucha Nala
Findings• The average % of failed students is higher in lower
secondary level. So, the lower secondary level is the most vulnerable stage of students in their schooling period.
• Most of the students are weak in subjects like Mathematics, English and Science.
• Girls’ are found to be weak in studies in comparison to boys.
• While studying 1 student performance from Grade 1-10, student is having problem in same subject from the very beginning.
Impacts• Teachers started teaching being based on learning
ability of student rather than learning oriented.
• Total number of students attending school regularly has increased.
• Created a positive attitude towards learning in students.
• Weak students are uplifting their educational status.
• Decreased in Drop out rate of students.
Continued…………..• The importance of the classes have been realized
and to internalize this program as school’s program is emphasized.
• Some neighboring community schools are also planning to initiated remedial support class on their own effort and resources and some are demanding it.
• Raised interest of students to study at home after remedial support class.
Importances• Successful in reducing the communication gap
between teacher, students & parents.
• Peer teaching as a part has enhanced interaction among every individual student in class.
• Revision of subject matter and every small concept.
• Friend's support and contextual materials are helpful in learning attitude.
Recommendation• Remedial support program must be internalize within
public education system.
• Narrow down the gap between training and its application in class room activities.
• Training on Critical Thinking in Education must be organized for Teachers.
• Remedial support class for weaker students should be incorporated in other schools.
• Capacity of school management committee for managing the remedial support program in all classes must be enhanced.
