Pinakbet or pakbet -is a popular vegetable dish in the Philippines which originated in Ilocos Region, the word pinakbet is derived from the Ilocano word pinakebbet, meaning “shrunk” or “shrivelled”.

Dinengdeng- (also called inabraw) is a dish of the Ilocano people similar to pinakbet.-it is a boiled vegetables seasoned with bagoong with an added fried or grilled fish.

Fidel "Eddie" Valdez Ramos-(born March 18, 1928 at Lingayen Pangasinan), popularly known as FVR, was the 12th President of the Philippines from 1992 to 1998. THE ILOCOS REGION

• Part of an extensive region (consisting of the present provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Abra and La Union) renowned for its gold mines.

• The inhabitants called their place "samtoy", from "sao mi toy, which literally meant "our language". 

• On June 13, 1572, Salcedo and his men landed in Vigan. • They were surprised to see numerous sheltered coves ("looc") where the locals lived in harmony.

The region was later called by the Spaniards as “Ylocos” or “Ilocos” and its people “Ilocanos”.

“Ylocos” - literally meant “from the lowlands”.

RELIGION• The population is predominantly Roman Catholic with strong
