A guideline for reflective feedback on a film scene analysis activity

Reflection for Film Scene Analysis

Media Studies 1.2

Recommended use of this tool is to use these as questions on a google form as this will collect and collate student responses in a useful format for feedback and suggestions for future teaching and learning activities. 

This form could then be embedded in your class LMS/webpage/wiki or blog for ease of student access.I embed it in our wikispace page and add a link to that page from the class moodle site.

Whether or not this unit is used as assessment for the Achievement Standard it is useful to have students consider the following questions to reflect on and evaluate their responses. The example here was given to students at the completion of the Achievement Standard assessment.

Effects of the use of selected elements *I have described the effect(s) of the use of each of at least 2 selected elements on the scene/film (Yes/No)

Explanation *I have given a reasoned explanation of how/why this effect is created by the use of the elements (Yes/No)

Combination of elements 

*I have given a reasoned (well thought out) explanation of how/why these elements work together with each other and/or other elements to create effects in the text (Yes/No)

Time *NCEA credits are estimated to take about 10 hours time per credit (approx. 7 hours teaching input, 3 hours student input). In terms of time do you feel you gave this assessment a fair amount of your time?) Yes/No - why/why not?
