Introduction

There are many simple, direct and efficient strategies that can be implemented to transform a boring class into an interesting and entertaining one. In this presentation we will show you how to improve the methodology of you class.

Many of these strategies allow students to take advantage of things they already know.

A lot of these ideas promote students to work in collaboration with others. In general, when students have to face difficulties they cant solve or don’t understand if they are working with other classmates they can interact and share ideas to solve those problems they might face.

10 simple techniques to apply in your classroom

1. Ask students questions to stimulate their curiosity.

2. Apply a five minute quiz at the beggining of the class.

3. Use multimedia resources, such as powerpoint presentations, videos, audio, etc.

4. Promote interaction amoung students with their classmates so they can get to know each other from the start of the class.

5. Talking less often makes your students think more for themselves, makes them explore and evaluate the contents of the class.

6. Promote collaboration, divide class in groups and assign homework.

7. Use of pyramid while teaching. Divide them in groups and have them interact with others and expose their ideas to diffrent groups.

8. Have students evaluate and comment their classmates works.

9. Organize debates about contraversial issues and share their arguments.

10. Divide big proyects into smaller parts.

Final conclusions

These techniques, and similar ones, are a good way of making students compromise with the class; promote active listening abilities and accomplish a mayor participation from your students.

Students also learn how to summarize other classmates opinions. When to express and justify their own opinions and learn to response with empathy the ideas of others, they are beginning to use important abilities that require rational and critical thinking.
