Job Descriptions• A detailed statement of the nature of

the job, identifying the precise task and responsibilities involved.

• Describes the JOB

• Includes: • Job Title and location• Responsibilities / duties• Responsible to / for

Person Specification• A statement or listing of the characteristics required to

do a job successfully. Describes the PERSON

• Includes: • Qualifications (e.g. degree)• Experience (e.g. number of years)• Training (e.g. PGCE)• Special skills (e.g. driving)

• It can also include elements that are essential or desirable …– Physical attributes – Mental attributes – Education and qualifications – Experience, training and skills – Personality – Special circumstances
