The article needs a dramatic or catching first

line. It should be short and snappy.

In the first paragraph, you should also

□ Give more detail. The most important facts

should be given first as the reader tends to

read the beginning of an article and the

final sentence.(as informed by the Evening

Gazette).

Conclusion.

□ The conclusion should summarise the

important points of the argument and

repeating your dramatic statements of the

first paragraph in a different way will be

persuasive.

□ If, when you are writing you can agree with

the reader on the conclusion, persuasion

is easier and it is more persuasive to use

the word “we”.

□ E.g. We would all like our opinions to be

heard.
