Welcome to First Grade! Dear Parents/Guardians,

We are excited to work with your family during the 2018/2019 school year. It is

our desire that your child greatly improves his/her abilities in each subject area this year.

Together, WE can make this possible! We cannot stress to you enough how important

good reading, math and writing skills are to your child’s success in life. Please refer to

the “I Can” Common Core pages for exact statements of what we want students to be

able to do at the end of the year. These pages also list the common core standards

(what must be taught to first graders in Kentucky).
