MISSION
[ A KEY ECONOMIC LEVER ]
CAE Capital was created in 1985 as the Centre d’aide aux entreprises de la Rive-Sud. Today, it is still a not-for-profit organization, but on a larger geographical scale, and it is still pursuing its original goal of providing key support to local businesses.
In collaboration with its partners Canada Economic Development (lead partner), Business Development Bank of Canada and Investissement Québec, CAE Capital is involved with companies to:
• Contribute to the development of the regional economy
• Invest in the development of businesses• Promote job creation and retention

[ WHAT, AND WHO, IS CAE MADE OF? ]
Many times in the course of our work, we are asked by clients or collaborators where CAE comes from? That’s right, what are the origins of the Centre d’aide aux entreprises? Stemming from a community development program, CAE is dedicated to creating and retaining jobs. That’s why, originally, Human Resources Development Canada was the department responsible for business development centres throughout Quebec.
Today, as a partner of Canada Economic Development, our interventions focus on two main areas: support and financing.
SUPPORTIt is under the corporate name CAE Rive-Sud that we decided to combine our technical assistance and support activities.
To achieve this mandate, the Centre d’aide aux entreprises de la Rive-Sud inc. prioritized two measures: the Cercles d’entraide Rive-Sud and the Soutien au travail autonome measure.
For their part, the Cercles d’entraide, in partnership with Emploi-Québec, offer women wishing to set up a business project, a training group leading to the realization of a business plan.
Secondly, there’s the Soutien au travail autonome (STA) measure, for which we became, during the year, the supporting body. It is thus since July 1, 2015 that our team is responsible for this Emploi-Québec measure that exists to provide assistance to eligible individuals so that they attain autonomy in the labour market by creating or developing a business or by becoming self-employed. This new development has allowed us to hire Marie-Eve St-Arnaud, our new Business Advisor.
Besides these two measures, one should not ignore the many hours of support provided to our clients at the financing level.
FINANCINGThe support component is important, but the financing remains a major tool. This aspect of our interventions is our main focus, hence the corporate name we came up with a few years ago: “CAE Capital”, which points to our investment division working through short-term loans.
This year, we have invested $11.6 MILLIONS in 61 projects, which brings our total investments to more than $99.3 MILLIONS since our foundation. Thanks to our financing operations, we helped create or retain 313 jobs this year, for a total of 7,481. These investments fully demonstrate the importance of our core activities, which furthermore, ensure the sustainability of our organization.
WHO IS CAE MADE OF?CA nice team that strives for the development of CAE and that of its community. A team that doesn’t hesitate to face the great challenges which, year after year, feed this fabulous growth. It is this team that allows us to reach ever higher, further and to be stronger...
It is also a great board of directors, consisting of volunteers who focus on job creation and economic development.
I am grateful for these wonderful skills they put at the disposal of our community to help propel us, and YOU, forward!
Michel Aubin General Manager

NATURE OF THE PROJECTSFinancing orders is becoming CAE Capital’s most significant financial product. This phenomenon is explained by the scarcity on the market of such an innovative financial product, which comprehensively responds to the needs of growing businesses.
Financing for SR & ED has, for its part, declined over the last 5 years. The rigorous application of eligibility criteria by the Canada Revenue Agency is certainly the main cause of that decline.
