RESEARCH ACTIVITIES
With the exponential growth of sensor networks, web logs, social networks and interconnected application components, large collections of data are continuously generated with high speed and in different formats. Traditional technologies are not able to deal with the immense scale and dynamicity of these data. Thus, storage, information retrieval, data analysis and visualization must be redefined. My main topic is about large-scale data management. The scientific and technological challenges to address are related to: - Real-time and distributed processing of various data sources (streams, web content, linked open
data, etc.) - Use semantic technologies to add a semantic layer - Optimizing resources in large scale systems
Application domains: sensor networks, recommender systems, machine to machine
DEVELOPED TOOLS
• MCUBE: a Multimedia Platform using Machine-to-Machine technology as an implementation of distributed processing services
• CLOUDIZER: software load-balancing framework for web services. The goal is to allow transparent deployment of legacy applications on a cloud
• SIMIZER: simulator for evaluating and measuring the behavior of cache memory optimization, different load balancing, and/or consistency policies regarding different measure such as response time, latency, throughput, etc. in a cloud
