2. POLICIES
The REAL program is open to students in grades KG – 5th. When selecting activities, please make two
choices for each day, in the event that your first choice is not available.
Registration for the REAL is administered on a "first come first served basis". However, in most cases,
there are places for all interested students.
Activities will only run with a minimum of 8 participants and any REAL with less than 8 registered may be
subject to cancellation.
At the Elementary level, REAL begins with a fifteen minutes recess from 2:45 - 3:00 pm. Beginning at
3:00 p.m. students begin an Extended Learning block which focuses on homework support for students
by a grade level teacher. A snack is provided for all students who participate in REAL Activities during this
time. At 3:30 all students transition to their registered activity.
3. REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT
How to Register
To register, please complete the registration form online at our school website (www.aus.edu.kw)
or in the Registrar Office.
Do not fax or e-mail your application.
Applications will only be processed if accompanied by payment.
Confirmation and Payment
Payment can be made online at our school website www.aus.edu.kw . The online payment
feature for each club will only be active until that particular club reaches its student limit. If a club
is full then students/parents should select another available option.
Payment is non-refundable. No credit will be issued for days missed.

Cancellation
Administration reserves the right to cancel session dates based on the needs of the school. If an activity
is canceled due to teacher illness or school closure, parents will receive an EMAIL informing them. Make-
up dates for missed session days are at the discretion of the Administration.
* No refund or credit will be issued for students absent from a REAL activity for any reason.
4. BEHAVIOR EXPECTATIONS
1. Students are to listen to REAL leaders when they are giving instructions and respond respectfully
and positively to guidelines that may be given according to each environment.
2. Safety rules will be explained and must be adhered to at all times.
3. Students should work cooperatively and respectfully with their peers so that each individual can
pursue their activity without being disrupted or distracted by others.
4. Students should remain on task and make the most of their opportunity to learn and enjoy their
time in the activity.
Behavior/Discipline Policy
The Behavior/Discipline policy is effective immediately and will be strictly enforced. Additionally,
Administration reserves the right to cancel the future participation of any child that continually fails to
meet the behavior expectations. If a student is removed from a club for continued improper behavior, no
refund will be issued. Incidents will be tallied per session.
First Incident – Written Warning Letter/Phone Call
Second Incident – Written Warning Letter/Parental Meeting, Child Excluded for 1 Day
Third Incident – Written Notification, Child is Withdrawn from Program
5. PICKUP FROM REAL
Dismissal
All Elementary School REAL participants will be escorted to the east side of the building (Elementary
School drop off/pickup area) for dismissal. Pickup must be arranged prior and arrive promptly at the
designated time. No supervision is provided by teachers after students are escorted to the drop off area.
Please respect the commitments of our instructors and arrive promptly for pick-up. Students who are
habitually not picked up in a timely manner will be removed from the REAL program for the remainder of
the session with no refund. REAL Club dismissal is at 4:30. Students must be picked up by an adult
between 4:30 and 4:45.
AUS does not provide bus transportation to students in REAL.

Late Pick-Up Policy
The Late Pick-Up policy is effective immediately and will be strictly enforced. Additionally, Administration
reserves the right to cancel the future participation of any child without refund whose parents are
habitually late to pick them up. Incidents will be tallied per session.
Parents arriving for pick up later than 4:45 are considered late and subject to the late pickup policy
consequences.

All clubs meet from 3:30 – 4:30 pm.

Academic Enrichment is available to any 1st-5th grade AUS student. This program will offer small group
homework support and enrichment activities for English/Reading, Math, ESL, and Arabic. We will offer it
as a two day a week program (M/W) or one day a week (T). Students may also register for all three
days. Teachers will work with the classroom teachers to identify each student’s targeted areas for
growth.

Ballet for Beginners!

Learn to move gracefully! Enjoy a low-key beginners’ class in basic technique that will culminate in a brief

improve their confidence by developing their own personal Ted Talk.
Quran Club!

Students will learn how to properly read and study the Quran. The goal is to improve student knowledge

Game club is a fantastic outlet to play and have fun, but also learn how to strategize and plan five moves
ahead in your mind and visualize all the various ways the game could end.
Cursive Writing Club!

Writing is one of the most important things to learn and master in school. It is not all about the fact that

that sloppy handwriting to help you exceed the expectations!

simulations on the computer!! To do this, they will learn how to make their own art, music, animation,
and special effects.
Baking Club!

Baking Club provides a fun and interactive place for students who enjoy baking to make easy-bake

Not only are puppets a lot of fun, they also encourage communication skills, social/emotional
development, and help children learn and understand the world around them through imaginative play.
Participants in Puppetry Club will design and create a variety of puppets from around the world including
shadow, stick, and hand puppets. Students will additionally have the opportunity to develop an original
script, props, and backdrops.
ArKidsTecture: The Crafty Builder!

Be an ARCHITECT and discover the characteristics of key mathematical shapes. Some of the activities
include creating square mazes, palominos, cubic bubbles and making your own kaleidoscope. Unravel
the stories of famous architectural structures all over the world like the Stonehenge, Aztec and Egyptian
pyramids. Look closely into nature and dig into its connection to math and science.

Build your children's love of reading! Inspire them to become lifelong readers. During Readers’ Theater
participants will work together to bring short stories to life. Students will read and perform stories in
small groups. Our goal is helping students bring characters to life and entertain an audience. Our
sessions will focus on encouraging participants to use their voice, expression, and actions, rather than on
creating costumes, scenery, or props.
Young Scientist Club!

Cooking club is for students who desire to become young chefs. Students will be hands-on making quick

a great way for students to gain a head start on becoming future Chefs.
Arabic Puppet Theater!

Learn new skills while having fun! Playing table tennis (Ping Pong) is a great recreational activity, giving
you the opportunity to learn a new set of rules and strategies for an indoor game. Students will learn how
to effectively play table tennis and developing a serve, forehand, and backhand. This game will help them
develop the basic skills so they can play recreational or competitive table tennis outside of class.

The AUS Cricket Club aims to boost interest and involvement in the game of Cricket amongst students.

Students will gain an introduction to basic swimming and water safety skills such as bubbling, floating on
the back, floating on the chest, cycling motion, and basic diving (in shallow water) skills and learn the
backstroke. Students slightly more advanced will be able to learn to back crawl and work to develop
basic freestyle stroke skills such as (legs motion, arms action). All of these activities will be introduced in
a fun and child-friendly manner that incorporates activities and games! Students that prove themselves
capable of performing to the level necessary to compete can possibly join the AUS Swim group.
Swim Club!

Karate club!

The karate club will be hosted by Mr. Omran of the International Karate Organization. He has over 20
years of working with children of all ages and he teaches a Kyokushin style karate. This style is rooted in
a philosophy of self-improvement, discipline and hard training. Students will be eligible to receive a
certificate based on the level (degree) of belt attained during the session. The fee does include the
karate uniform.
AUS Soccer Club!

The goal of the REAL soccer program is to provide the students with coaching and instruction to learn the
skills and fundamentals of soccer. Additionally, students will be taught the rules of soccer, team
strategies for game competition and other important soccer skills necessary to learn how to play on a
team. Team members will also gain self-confidence as they work on improving strength, speed and
fitness. There will be game competitions within the team as well as against other schools here in Kuwait.
During the REAL session, students will be selected to participate in 2 to 4 games against local schools or
leagues. These games will take place within the REAL session during the scheduled club meeting times,
between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm.
