How to upgrade existing version to Quick Heal 10.0?Quick Heal Upgrade will be silently downloaded [

in background mode ] if connected to internet, in all Quick Heal 9.50 with the help of a file- acappa.exe. After finishing the complete downloading, user will prompted for installation of it. This will automatically upgrade Quick Heal 9.5 to Quick Heal 10.0.

Alternatively, those who don’t have Quick Heal installed or don’t have internet connection, can run the installer of Quick Heal 10.0 directly.

introduced. You can now configure any one of the following schedule scan priority:

Scan Mailbox“Scan Mailbox” scanning option has been

added under Scan\My Profile list so that you can easily scan your mailboxes. It supports Outlook Express and Windows Mail

DBX ScanningDBX Scanning has been improved. It will have 2

options i.e. ‘Quick Scan’ and ‘Thorough Scan’Quick Scan If this option is selected then Quick Heal

scans new mails and does not scan previously scanned emails. By default this option is selected.

Thorough Scan If this option is selected then Quick Heal

always scans all mails every time. This scan takes a long time

Backup before Repairing"Backup before Repairing" feature has been

enhanced. Now it will backup the infected file before cleaning. This feature has been also added in Online Protection and Email Protection. This will help you restore genuine file in case of false positive or improper cleaning.

EnhancementsQuick Heal Scan engine has been enhanced.

Now Quick Heal performs scanning much faster than the previous versions and also consumes less memory.

Native Boot Scan has been enhanced. It will not start on next boot if terminated while scanning in native mode.

How does new activation system work?

New activation system will use now 20 digit serial number for all products .

That is if a machine is activated through online, it will not require reactivation permission if again same serial number gets activated on same machine.

Secondly, a copy can be activated 10 times in a network without reactivation permission, but updates will be continued to only one machine [serial number, installation number] at a time. If two machines have same Quick Heal Serial Number and are active, second machine will not receive the updates and get the message and warning also for this.

Minifilter Driver of Online ProtectionIn Quick Heal 2009, we have introduced

minifilter driver [catflt.sys] for Online Protection. This driver will work on Windows Filter Manager Service. The main advantage of this technique is that hanging problem and system slow down problems will be reduced. However this driver will be applicable only for

Windows 2000 SP4 with Update Rollback pack installed

Windows XP SP2 Windows 2003 SP2 Windows Vista. Windows 2008.

In case of Windows 2000 having SP4, Windows XP/2003 without SP, Quick Heal will be installed with Legacy drivers of Online Protection.

Note: Minifilter drivers are based on Microsoft Filter Manager Service [ Fltmgr.sys ]. This service is not visible using services.msc. It can be seen in registry at

HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\Fltmgr.

Further, this service of Windows gets installed only when respective SP for respective OS are installed. If this service is installed following command will work and will display the status of Quick Heal’s Online Protection Driver. Command is: fltmc

Henceforth Quick Heal 2009 will not be compatible to Windows98/ME/NT4.0.

Suggest the Win98/ME/NT4.0 users to upgrade to some another O.S.
