TEXTURE PRO SOFTWARE
Developed in conjunction with blue-chip customers,TexturePro software has been designed to facilitateeverything from a routine test through to the most complexresearch.
User friendly with a familiar Windows/Microsoft format,TexturePro provides the widest test capability of anysoftware within the field of texture analysis. It harnessesthe power of Microsoft Excel to calculate a full range ofstandard texture parameters through menu-drivensoftware that eliminates complicated macros required bysome alternative systems. Users can easily incorporatecustomised formulae and analysis into the wealth ofstatistical and data analysis functions offered by Excel.Full Microsoft Office compatibility means that test reportsand graphs generated can be transferred into differentprogrammes via simple copy and paste functions.
Product evaluation data can be overlaid graphically toidentify trends between samples, and view criticalparameters. User defined functions with an unlimited re-analysis capability allows results to be tailored to specificuser requirements. And, to optimise data managementdata can be stored within single project files with batchdifferentiation.
TexturePro software includes an extensive help facility andapplication notes. A dedicated software support teamensures this valuable resource is regularly upgraded tokeep pace with the latest developments in PC technology.
Offering the widest testcapability in its field
Features• Unique operation directly within Microsoft Excel
to facilitate report and presentation development
• Full remote control of the QTS
• Simple to select Textural Parameters eliminatingrequirement for complicated macros
• Comprehensive sample and report analysis including multiple graphing options and comprehensive statistics package
• Simple calculation and manipulation of data withinExcel to identify full range of textural characteristics:TEXTURE PROFILE ANALYSIS - for sensorial correlation in the food industrySTRESS RELAXATION - measures sample relaxationat constant deformationTENSILE TESTING - for evaluating break strengthand elasticityFATIGUE CYCLIC TESTS - measure recoveryproperties of sampleSNAP STRENGTH TESTS - measure break strengthand deformation of sample
• Extensive help and applications support availableelectronically
• In-house applications support laboratory and reference library
TextureProsoftware users canenjoy the wealth ofstatistical and dataanalysis functions offered byMicrosoft Excel.

EXTRUSION CELLBack and forward extrusion tests are usedto determine the flow properties of viscousfluids such as yogurts, cosmetic creams, soft gels, sauces and lubricants.
OTTAWA CELLA square test cell and plunger extrudes thesample through a range of apertures. Usedto assess particulate products such asbreakfast cereals, loosefill polystyrene, beans and pulses.
GRIP ASSEMBLYMultipurpose tensile grips supplied in pairs.Single or double vice options are available.Used to test the break strength ofpackaging seals, chewing gum sticks andtextile fibres.
COMPRESSION PLATEA large top plate used for standardcompression tests on bakery goods andother structured products such aspackaging materials. Used in the calculationof stress relaxation and visco-elasticity.
FRICTION ASSEMBLYAn extension flatbed and pulley system enablesstatic and dynamic forces to be calculated.Used to evaluate packaging materials and thespreading characteristics of lubricants, pharmaceuticals and cosmetics.
3-POINT BEND ASSEMBLYDesigned to calculate ‘snap’ value of brittlematerials and foods, this fixture has avariable span up to 135mm. Used in theassessment of polymers, PCBs, cosmetics, confectionery, biscuits and vegetables.
SHEAR BLADESSet of four blades including the Warner-Bratzler blade. Shear cutting tests may beapplied to vegetables, pasta, cosmetics, meats and any other products requiring anindication of cross-sectional structure.
PUNCH ASSEMBLYConsisting of bottom plate with a precisionaperture and corresponding punch probe.Used to evaluate shear forces within bakerydough (to assess gluten extensibility),cheese, meats products and even clay!
The probes and fixtures shown here arejust a small selection from our standardrange, and are often tailored to meetindividual customer requirements.Selection of the correct accessory orprobe enables the generation ofaccurate and reliable results that aremeaningful in relation to the truephysical properties of a product.
CNS Farnell has an active developmentprogramme designed to develop bothcustom and standard probes andaccessories that imitate ‘real life’conditions and help eliminate empiricalvariation during testing.

PRECISIONTEXTURE ANALYSIS
With over 40 year’s experience in texture analysis, from the BoucherJelly Tester to the Stevens range of Analysers, CNS Farnell providescustomers with a complete texture assessment service. We specialisein the development of novel and innovative test applications andaccessories for solid and semi-solid materials, enabling our customersto maximise the practical value of their texture studies within all testenvironments.
Utilising simple ‘Compression’ or ‘Tension’ forces, we are able toimitate almost all conditions imposed during the manufacture orhandling of a wide range of foods, industrial materials and personalcare products. Such measures provide a ‘real life’ insight into thephysical properties of a product, often invaluable in maintainingconsistent quality manufacture whilst minimising product waste inproduction.
Initial R & D trials set the specifications for at-line Quality Control infull-scale production, enabling a proactive manufacturing approachwith optimised process control.
The QTS 25 Texture Analyser is a self-contained bench-top instrumentproviding laboratory precision, even on the production floor. It isdesigned to operate as a stand alone unit, using a simple dedicatedconsole, or with a PC running the TexturePro software package forenhanced analytical power.
Accurate values for a comprehensive range of physical properties areeasily obtained from the QTS, ranging from traditional measures, suchas hardness and fracture, to novel imitative tests like co-efficient offriction. All tests are supported via our in-house applicationslaboratory in addition to established methodologies held within ourcomprehensive library of tests.
