In Hume, the students have been learning about light and sound in their science unit called ‘Look, Listen’. This week they have investigated vibrations and have started to learn about how sound travels. They enjoyed conducting experiments to observe the vibrations made by strumming the strings of the guitar, by tapping the drum of the tambourine and by feeling vibrations on the surface of a balloon that were made when someone spoke nearby.
Multicultural Public
Speaking
Nicola Walsh, Anna Stuart, Alasdair
Wray and Patrick Stuart
showcased their public speaking
skills at the regional finals of the
Multi-Cultural Public Speaking
Competition in Gundagai.
Students were confident and
relaxed delivering their prepared speech. Tensions rose when speakers were given
five minutes to prepare their impromptu speech. Topics for the impromptu speech
were “Funny Business” (Years 5 and 6) and “Scary Stuff” (Years 3 and 4). Yet, Franklin
students rose to the occasion and presented some amazing speeches.
