Michigan State Lands

Together with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, we are striving to plant Jack pine in this area on a large scale. Young Jack pine forests provide habitat for the endangered Kirtland’s warbler as well as many other game and nongame species. The 2019 plantings will also help stabilize highly erodible soils and provide a niche for sustainable forestry.
