Social Inclusion Week for County Galway is taking place from the 19th – 25th October 2015. The purpose of Social Inclusion Week is to highlight and create more awareness of people who may be excluded from taking a full and active role in society and their community. It’s also an opportunity to celebrate and promote the work that community groups are involved in.

Welcome…

The purpose of Social Inclusion Week is to highlight and createmore awareness of people who may be excluded from taking a fulland active role in society and their community. This may be becausethey are older and vulnerable, have a disability, identify as Lesbian,Gay, Bisexual or Transgender, live in a rural area, are a member ofthe Traveller community, are young, are unemployed, are from aforeign Country or for a number of other reasons. It’s also anopportunity to celebrate and promote the work that communitygroups are involved in.

There are over 50 events happening all around County Galwaythis year. We would like to thank all the individuals, groupsand organisations for taking part in Social Inclusion Week 2015.Your work on the ground supporting and helping people in ourcommunities is invaluable.

The activities and events listed are just a sample of the work thatgroups and organisations are all involved in on a daily basis and wehope that you will join in and celebrate these exciting events.

The week will be officially launched on Monday 19th October bythe Cathaoirleach of the County of Galway Cllr. Peter Roche at6pm in Gort Cancer Support Centre, Garrabeg, Gort. Tea, Coffeeand refreshments will be provided and all are very welcome.

‘Fairyland Forest’ Film Showing Time: 7pm – 9pmVenue: The Lady Gregory Hotel,Ennis Road, Gort. The Orchard Centre inviteseveryone to a special viewing ofFairyland Forest, an animation filmwritten by local artist MaryKinsella, and produced by ‘That’sLife’, an arts and participationprogramme of Brothers of CharityServices Galway. The film featuresdisabled and non-disabled artistsworking together to produce aunique film with original artwork,

music and sound. ‘Fairyland Forest’tells the story of Bumble Bee’s lovefor a butterfly, Princess Pink. Inorder to win her heart he has todefeat the dragonfly Prince Blackand face the dangers of Black’s evilarmy surrounding Fairyland Forest.
