SUMMARY
Prof. Daniel Eseme Idowu Gberevbie currently lectures at the Department of
Political Science and International Relations, Covenant University, Ota, Ogun State,
Nigeria. He holds a B.Sc. Degree (Second Class Upper Division) in Political Science
and Public Administration and M.Sc. Degree in Public Administration from the
University of Benin, Benin City, Nigeria, between 1992 and 1998, and obtained a
PhD Degree in Public Administration from Covenant University, Ota, Nigeria in
April 2008.
Before coming into academics, Prof. Daniel Gberevbie served as a Military
Personnel (Nigerian Air Force) for 15 years in Kaduna, Kano and Benin City (1984-
1999); and as Administrative Officer, later Operations Manager, Tropical Express
Nigeria Limited, Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria (1999-2003).
Prof. Daniel Gberevbie started his career in the academics as an Assistant Lecturer
on 1st September 2003, at the then Department of Policy and Strategic Studies, now
Department of Political Science and International Relations, Covenant University,
Ota, Nigeria, where he rose to become a Professor on 1st August 2015. He served
excellently well as Deputy Dean, in-charge of School of Social Sciences, made-up of
four Departments: (a) Economics and Development Studies, (b) Mass
Communication, (c) Political Science and International Relations, and (d) Sociology,
all in the College of Business and Social Sciences (2012-2015); and a member of
Covenant University Senate (2012 till date).
In addition, Prof. Daniel Gberevbie has served on various committees of the
University either as Chairman or Committee Member, these include: Covenant
University (CU) Postgraduate Board; Road Safety; Security Committee; Research,
Innovation and Discovery; Quality and Academic Standards; Ad-hoc Committee on
Excess Workload; Strategic Planning Committee; Junior Faculty Appointment and
Promotion Committee; Library Committee; Staff and Students’ Appellate Committee;
CU Ad-hoc Committee on Salary Structure; and more. Also, he has been an internal
assessor and examiner for the School of Postgraduate Studies of Covenant University.
In addition, he has served as an external assessor and examiner to different
Universities in Nigeria and the United Kingdom.

Prof. Daniel Gberevbie has travelled wide to examine PhD theses, attend and
present academic papers in international conferences both at home and overseas, and
has published articles in reputable peer-reviewed local and foreign journals, including
books and book chapters in the field of Political Science and Public Administration.
Furthermore, He has supervised a number of undergraduate final year Projects and
Postgraduate Students of PGD, M.Sc., MPA Dissertations and PhD Theses (both
completed and on-going) in the field of Political Science and Public Administration at
Covenant University.
Prof. Daniel Gberevbie’s areas of research interest include Personnel/Human
Resources Management, Security Study, Ethical Issues and Accountability,
Governance, e-Government and e-Governance, Public Policy, Leadership,
Development Administration, Gender Politics and Local Government Administration.
He is a professional member of the Nigerian Political Science Association (NPSA),
Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and Chartered Institute of Personnel
Management of Nigeria (CIPMN).
