Using ProQuest Central

• Find articles from fashion journals like Journal of Fashion Marketing and Management, Women's Wear Daily, just - style, Vogue, W, Harper's Bazaar, Esquire, Flare and many more.

• Articles may include information on your fashion designer, as well as current collections of contemporary designers and brands. You may also find examples of promotions and advertising copy.

Log into Blackboard and click on the Library Tab. Then click Databases.

Here is a list of databases filed by subject. We want to find the database called ProQuest Central, so

let’s click on the “A-Z List.”

Scroll down the alphabetical list to ProQuest Central and click to access it.

This is the ProQuest home page. You can perform a basic search for an author, title, publication or keyword.

Let’s do an advanced search to combine multiple

terms.

Click “Full Text” to only find complete

articles, not citations.

By searching for WWD in the Publication title field, we will only find articles from

WWD (Women’s Wear Daily).

We’ll search for an article that contains the terms Alexander McQueen and design somewhere in its title, text, abstract or other fields.

We found 769 articles using our search for WWD full text articles which contain the terms Alexander McQueen and

design.

Notice each result lists the title, author, publication title, page

numbers, and publication date. It shows where search terms are used in the article, and shows

that the article will be in full text.

Here is the full text article.

This article was written right after McQueen’s death. Obituaries or memorial articles like this one could be helpful to your papers because

they will look back on important events in designers’ lives.

Use tools to email it to yourself, print, download, or

cite the article. Click the citation tool to see

the citation information formatted in MLA style.

Always double-check that citations are properly formatted. Even databases make

mistakes!
