Partnership ClinicsIn addition to our PRM specialty clinics we providesupport to clinics run by other departments andorganizations.

Brachial Plexus ClinicThis multidisciplinary clinic is run by plastic surgeryand evaluates, treats, and monitors children withperipheral nerve injury from birth brachial plexus andother traumatic causes.

Muscular Dystrophy Association ClinicThis clinic is held weekly under the direction of CHP'sneuromuscular neurologist. The multidisciplinaryteam includes PRM, neurology, pulmonology,cardiology, endocrinology, physical therapy, geneticcounseling, DME, and an MDA representative.

Chronic Pain Management ClinicThe Division coordinates with pediatric pain servicesto provide multidisciplinary chronic pain managementwith a focus on functioning.

Durable Medical Equipment (DME) ClinicOur physicians participate in a multidisciplinary clinicwith physical and occupational therapy and local DMEvendors to evaluate and identify the optimal complexmedical equipment to best meet the child's functionalneeds.

Community Outreach ExperiencesDeveloped to help address a clinical need for care inmore rural communities. These clinics meet monthlyin Johnstown, PA, Easter Seals in Wheeling , WV, andthe Western PA School for Blind Children.

Spasticity/Movement Disorders ClinicsRun by pediatric neurosurgery, this clinic focuses onproviding comprehensive assessments andmanagement plans for spasticity. Many of thechildren also attend our CP and general rehab clinics.

Optimizing the health, wellness, and function ofchildren with disabilities.

Our 2 year ACGME accredited clinical andresearch fellowship offers extensive andexpansive learning opportunities to thequalified fellow.

The Division of Pediatric RehabilitationMedicine at UPMC Children's hospital ofPittsburgh is one of the largest in thecountry. The division offers comprehensivepediatric rehabilitation medicine trainingwhich includes acute care inpatient consults,comprehensive inpatient rehabilitation,general pediatrics, and subspecialtypediatrics (medical and surgical).

Our program exposes the fellow to specialtyclinics using a team approach toward careand rehabilitation. The PRM physicians leadteams consisting of neurosurgeons,orthopaedic surgeons, physical therapists,occupational and speech therapists, publichealth nurses, and other specialistsaccording to the clinic and patient needs.

Cerebral Palsy-Related Disorders ClinicThis weekly multidisciplinary clinic serves morethan 400 infants, children, and youth with cerebralpalsy and similar conditions. Services include PRM,orthopaedics, physical, occupational, and speechtherapy, social work, orthotists, DME specialists,and nursing care coordination.

Feeding and Swallowing ClinicThis weekly multidisciplinary clinic providescomprehensive assessment, treatment, follow-upcare, and ongoing support for infants and childrenexperiencing feeding difficulties. The care teamincludes PRM, occupational and speech therapy,nutrition, behavioral health, and gastroenterology.

Spina Bifida ClinicThis weekly multidisciplinary clinic providescomprehensive care for several hundred infants,children, and youth with spinda bifida and otherspinal cord disorders. This clinic partners directlywith the adult clinic to assure a smooth transitionto adulthood, and many of these children are partof the spina bifida registry project funded by theCDC. The care team includes PRM, urology,orthopaedics, neurosurgery, physical andoccupational therapy, social work, orthotists, DME,and nursing care coordination.

Brain Injury Follow-Up ClinicThis multidisciplinary clinic serves children andyouth with a history of acquired moderate tosevere brain injury. The team developscomprehensive treatment plans for children afterbrain injury including physical, occupational, andspeech therapy, behavioral health,neuropsychology, social work, and nursing carecoordination.

Botulinum toxin injections forspasticity/dsytonia management and triggerpoint injectionsNerve blocks and botulinum toxin injections forpain and headachesNCS/EMG for peripheral nerve injuryProlotherapyAcupuncture to treat a variety of diseases -from chronic pain to spasticity

PRM Procedures Clinic

PRM General Rehab ClinicMembers of the Division also run their owncontinuity clinics. Some attendings have specialclinical expertise providing exposure to a broadrange of conditions from musculoskeletalcomplaints to medical complexity to severedisabling conditions.

PRM Fellow Continuity ClinicEach fellow develops a panel of their own patientsto follow longitudinally. The weekly clinic is staffedby different attendings from the Division giving abreadth of exposure to practice styles anddeveloping strong relationships with the patientsand families they serve.

PRM Transition ProgramWe have robust transition services for youth withdisabilities, including dedicated services for teensand young adults, making for a seamless transitionfrom pediatric to adult care with the Dept of PM&R.
