Context

• Falling birth rates means less students in our schools

• Many schools which were built to meet the population boom from the 1940s to the 1990s do not match the reduced numbers of today

• People moving from mature housing estates like Ang Mo Kio to newer housing estates like Punggol

• Falling demand for school places in Ang Mo Kio

Benefits & Commitment

• Students from both schools can benefit from

a wider range of educational programmes,

a variety of co-curricular activities (CCAs),

up-to-date facilities

• All decisions made will be in best interests of merged school and its pupils

• Pupils’ learning experience will not be compromised

• New Principal-Designate for merged school

• New facilities in the school by 2019

• Name of merged school to be “Jing Shan Primary School”
