Term 4 - Week 9 P & C meet LAST Monday each MONTH, 7.00pm Thursday, 9th December 2010
PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
This week:
Reports
Library Returns and News
100% Attendance
2011 classes and First Day Back
Presentation Night
Farewell Mr J
Reports Teachers have been working hard over the last few weeks on student achievement reports. These reports comprehensively address the Key Learning Areas of English and Mathematics and also provide detailed information about areas of study for the class in Human Society and Its Environment (HSIE), Science and Technology (Sci-Tech), Personal Development, Health, Physical Education (PD/H/PE) and Creative Arts (CA). Last week, supervisors read their stage’s reports and this week, I have read all reports before they are distributed on Monday. Despite many hours of reading by a number of people, mistakes sometimes still slip through. Our photocopier has played up during printing and a technical glitch means we can’t correct the line that appears next to the school crest on the report, it will be right for next year though. Please contact your child’s teacher after the holidays if you find something that needs correction and we will reprint a new report. Library Returns and News
We would welcome the return of any library books you may have hiding at home—no questions asked! I am pleased to be able to advise that Mrs Donna Judd will be relieving for Mrs Beverley Morris, our teacher/librarian in 2011. Although a permanent teacher at Gosford East Public School, Donna has had recent library experience there and brings many years of excellent technology teaching with her also. Get those books back as soon as possible!
100% Attendance
Well done to the following students who have had 100% attendance at school this year—with no whole day or any partial day absences for Semesters 1 and 2. Congratulations Jade Day, Jack Day and Henry Parkins!
2011 Classes and First Day Back
Letters advising you of your child’s tentative 2011 class placement
have been distributed with this newsletter. As I mentioned earlier,
this is subject to change as increasing or decreasing numbers may
affect our anticipated organisation.
A classroom map will be posted on the school website under
downloads so you can see what room your child will be in. On the
first day of school, students should take their bags to their 2011
classroom and return to the playground. When the bell goes at
8:50 am all children should line up outside their new rooms ready to
start their first day of school in their new class. All students in the
new building block should wait under the COLA for their teacher to
walk them to class.
Presentation Night
Although I cannot announce the names of the major prizewinners
before presentation night, and this is the last newsletter for the
year, I want to congratulate everyone receiving an award next
Monday for their effort and contribution to our school’s success and
great reputation. Well done.
In a break with tradition I can, however, announce the School
Leaders and Captains for 2011 and they are:
School Captains
Anna Corby
Conor O’Dwyer
School Leaders
Katie Andrew
Seanne Kearney
Jared Wright
Aaron Holder
I wish you well as you take up the leadership reins at our school.
Farewell Mr J
I’m sure you will join with me in wishing Dennis Jarmaine all the
best for 2011 as he takes up his new position at Avoca Beach PS
and he waits for the arrival, early in the new year, of the new
addition to his family. Best wishes Dennis.
Season’s greetings from all of us here and happy holidays.
Hope you had a great year at our great school!

WE NEED YOUR HELP!!
Unfortunately we will be losing our very valued uniform shop coordinator next year. We would like to keep the shop within the school and are now looking for a
volunteer to take on this role next year. All information will be provided and
there are people who can help with the retail aspects of the role.
The role will involve stock-taking and control, ordering and the retail of the
clothing.
Should we receive no volunteers the shop may need to be outsourced to Lowes or similar venue.
Look forward to hearing from you.
