:To Dr . Nazmi Al masri

Grammar means:

Is something

defined as the way words are

put together to make correct

sentence .

There are two main methods.. *Inductive method : it means

introducing the example for learners then asking them to

conclude the rule. *Deductive method: it means

to introduce the rule by the teacher then to ask the learner

to give examples about it.

How we can teach grammar:

In E4P: Stage 1 : inductive

way is used Stage 2 : is divided

between the deductive and the

inductive , grade 5 & 6 the inductive way is used while

the deductive way is used from grad 4

to 7. Stage 3 : uses the

deductive way.

INDUCTIVE DEDUCTIVE

In textbooks, grammar is very often

presented out of context. Learners

context are given isolated sentences,

which they are expected to internalize

through exercises involving repetition,

manipulation, and grammatical

transformation.E4P introduce

grammar points in context in order to

help students. For example:

Grade 3 , unit 1 , page 6

Grade 3 , unit 1 , page 6

Grade 7 , page 7

Are there lessons that

introduce more than

one grammar point?

Stage 1 & 2 : there is no

lessons that introduce more

than one grammar point ,

all grammar points introduce

one point and one topic . If there is ,

this point is considered as a

revision

In stage 3 : there are lessons

introduce more than one

grammar point.

For example:

Grade 12 , unit 2 , lesson 5 ,

page 20:

Grade 12, unit 2 ,

lesson 5 , page 20:

Grade 9 , unit 5 , page 33

How do I know if the grammar exercises should be presented ,

practiced or reviewed? Through teacher book it explains the aim of every grammar lesson

grammar exercises should be presented by teacher , practiced by

students and reviewed by revision units

Moreover, by checking teacher book, I get some procedures that help teacher to teach grammar well.

1 -Check that the students understand what the target grammar is {the grammar that they are going to study} this

information is the section heading. For example in unit1, the heading for the first section on page 1o is present simple

and past simple. Elicit an example to check their understanding

2 -Remind them of examples of target grammar from recent lesson or ask them to find e.gs. If there is a note in box, give them time to study the examples and explanations in it and

check understanding.3 -If they need more information about the forms and uses

of tables and notes in the Grammar Reference at the back of the book. Or this can be done for H.W before the lesson.

4 -Encourage students to ask question if they are confused now/during/after the practice exercise that follows

Example from grade 9 , unit

8 , page 46.

It is revision unit

Grade 9 , unit 16 , page 95

In E4P grammar points

introduced in association to

language function , which help students to

communicate correctly by

using conversations

or dialogues in textbook .

Use grammar in

conversations

Grade 12 , unit 1 , page 10

Example of dialogue

Grade 11 , unit 1 , p 10

Presenting grammar at the content: Grade4

Grade 12

The content in the first stage is

different from the high stage

In first stage we see that grammar points marked in

bold but in high stage we see the

traditional way for content that we find the name of grammar lesson.

Which stages or textbook have grammar references?

Grammar reference is a description of the grammar of language with explanation of the principles of

governing the construction of words phrases , clauses , and sentences.

In first stage and second stage there is no references , also in teacher book there is no references.

We have grammar reference section at the end of student book in grades 10,11,12 .

Grade 11 , unit 2 , lesson 5, page 20

Grade 12

Are there grammar points that are too difficult for learners?

Yes , there are grammar points that difficult for students to

understand like: In grade 8 , unit 13 , page 77

Reported speech is very difficult lesson for students..

Pedagogical value from grammar:

Grammar reference has many benefits and

pedagogical values as *it provides student with

more examples and explanation

*also it consider a good and credible source for student

to check their answers. *It helps student to

understand easier &faster.

*It useful for teacher to teach in a good way.

* It is a good source of information for the family of students.

Are there lessons in the WB do not practice the

same grammar point introduced in SB ?

Yes , there are Such as;

In grade 7 in WB , page 55

I suggest to put grammar reference at the end of the book to make teaching process easier and

faster And it should be suitable for student ages.

No grammar reference

there are revision lessons, and I suggest to put revision units between the first term and the

second term

No revision units in SB

We need creative teacher who able to present, practice, and reviewed grammar information in a

good way.

traditional teacher

I think that the teacher should teach GRAMMAR by showing Ss like a game or a story.

introducing grammar lesson

The solution for this problem is very easy. The teacher can simply teach each point alone so that

students can understand them very well.

Introducing more than one grammar point in the same

lesson
