The ICC will need to demonstrate a high level of non-Intrusive security in and around the building using:

- 90 CCTV colour cameras, with digital recording & mgt software- Access control linked to the CCTV- Chemical & Biological threat detector- Geiger detector (nuclear waste, dirty bomb)- Multi-language voice evaluation

The ICC will need a substantial communication infrastructureway ahead of any other centre in South Africa:

- Independent satellite communications (dish on roof)- Gigabit network, voice over IP enabled- Multilayer firewalls- Ability to support internet cafes, wireless access- Ability to support a FIFA 2010 media centre

Multi-function halls need sufficient AV equipment to enablethem to operate in different modes & allow for quick turn-around times:

-High quality distributed AV system for background music,public address & multi-language voice evacuation

- Trussing to cater for lowered ceiling- Lighting to cater for different moods and needs- Trussing to build stage (corporate market)- Networked audio distribution system (easy & quick setup)

Turnstile counters and management systems will overseecrowds both inside and outside the centre:

- External CCTV camera feed to Venue Control Centre- Turnstile counters- People counters at strategic bottlenecks- Roof cameras inside the arena

A modern centralised building management system willbe used to monitor the levels of service, incl energy costs:

- BMS will control the hall lighting and thermal comfort levels- Energy management will reduce running costs

Adjudicated & recommended award of principal building contract toMasinya Consortium which is a 51% BBE & 39%PBE

The award value for the principal building contract was R357m

24 out of a total of 59 Selected Sub-contracts have been awarded
