The capital city is Prague.

It is the largest city in our republic,

the second largest city is Brno.

- The Czech Republic borders with

Germany, Austria , Slovakia and Poland.

- The Czech Republic is divided into 3 historic regions:

Bohemia, Moravia and Silesia.

- Our river biggest river Labe flows to the North sea.

- But the longest river of the country is the Vltava river.

Mountains

Around the Czech Republic are mountains.

The most famous ones are Krkonoše and Šumava.

Our highest mountain is Sněžka. It is in Krkonoše.

Our capital city „Prague“

Some important Information

● 10.5 million people live in the Czech Republic.

● 1 260 000 people live in Prabue.

● Prague is on the Vltava River.

● Prague has 3 metro lines.

● Our national currency is Czech crown (koruna).

● Prague Castle is a complex of buildings and dominates the skyline of Prague.

● One dominant is Petrin View Tower which is a little copy of the Eiffel Tower.

It is 60 metres high.

● Charles bridge is decorated with sculptures and statues of saints names.

It is very popular place of interest.

● Another famous attraction is the Astronomical Clock and the Old Town Square.

Ostrava● Ostrava is the third largest city in the Czech Republic

● Ostrava has about 300 000 people.

● The town hall tower is 85.6 meters high.

Lower Vítkovice

are famous for its historical heavy industry factories

● This area is registered in the list of European cultural heritage.

● It Includes Ironworks with a unique industrial architecture.

● A former gas tank was rebuilt into a modern concert hall.

Colours of Ostrava and museum

● Colours are an international music festival

which is held annually in Ostrava in the Lower

Vítkovice part for three days in July.

● Museum was the first ever opened museum in

Ostrava

Landek

● It is a little hill covered with woods in the Ostrava outskirt.

● The hill is only 280 meters above sea level, but it is clearly

visible from afar.

● A settlement of mammoth hunters from the Stone Age, aged

about 30 000 years, was found there.

● A little statuette of a woman made by the mammoth hunters is

a unique example of prehistoric art.

Tourist attractions

in the Czech Republic

8 million foreign tourists visited the Czech Republic last year.

Lednice Chateau is one of the most beautiful romanticism building in the

Czech and in 1996 Lednice was added on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Hluboká and Orlík

Hluboká Chateau is open to the public and is one of the most attractive

sights in the Czech Republic. The castle is owned by the state.

Orlík Chateau is surrounded by Orlik dam waters from three sides.

Karlštejn and Czech Krumlov castle

Karlštejn Castle was built to protect the imperial crown jewellery and holy relics.

Films are often made there, for example Czech music film „Night at Karlstejn“.

Czech Krumlov is a very popular tourist destination.In 1963 the town was declared an urban conservation.
