According to data from the World Intellectual PropertyOrganization (WIPO), it is estimated that the numberof applications for patents in Mexico has grown at anaverage annual growth rate (AAGR) of 1.9% in the lastthree years.

In 2013 Mexico had a place between the top tencountries that got the most patents grants during theyear.

From 2010 to 2013 there were 59,389 patentapplications. 21% of the patent publicationbelonged to pharmaceuticals, biotechnology,biology and Chemical engineering during the sameperiod.
