Pre Encounter Lesson 4: Benefits of the New Birth

TRANSCRIPT

THE BENEFITS OF THE NEW BIRTH

Benefit: An advantage, gain or profit gained from something

1. RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

John 1:12-13 (NLT) But to all who believed him and accepted him, he

gave the right to become children of God. They are reborn! This is not a physical birth

resulting from human passion or plan—this rebirth comes from God.

Romans 8:15-16 (NIV) For you did not receive a spirit that makes

you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by him we cry, "Abba,

Father." The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that

we are God's children.

Galatians 3:26 (NLT) So you are all children of God through faith in Christ Jesus.

2. TRUE IDENTITY

3. WE ARE ETERNALLY SECURED

Luke 10:20 (NIV) However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven."

Luke 10:20 (NLT) But don't rejoice just because evil spirits obey you;

rejoice because your names are registered as citizens of heaven."

Revelation 20:14-15 (NIV) Then death and Hades were thrown into

the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death.

If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake

of fire.

Philippians 4:3 (NLT) And I ask you, my true teammate, to help

these women, for they worked hard with me in telling others the Good News. And they

worked with Clement and the rest of my co-workers, whose names are written in the

Book of Life.

Hebrews 12:22-23 (NIV) But you have come to Mount Zion, to the heavenly Jerusalem, the city of the living God. You have come to thousands upon thousands of angels in joyful assembly,

to the church of the firstborn, whose names are written in heaven.

Ephesians 1:13-14 (NLT) And now you also have heard the truth, the Good News that

God saves you. And when you believed in Christ, he identified you as his own by giving you the Holy Spirit,

whom he promised long ago. The Spirit is God's guarantee that he will give us everything he promised and that he has

purchased us to be his own people. This is just one more reason for us to praise our glorious God.

4. WE HAVE THE INDWELLING PRESENCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Zechariah 4:6 (NIV) 'Not by might nor by power, but by my

Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty.

2 Peter 1:4 (NIV) Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the corruption in the world caused by

evil desires.

5. WE CAN NOW LIVE THE GOD KIND OF LIFE

1 John 3:8-9 (NLT) But when people keep on sinning, it shows they

belong to the Devil, who has been sinning since the beginning. But the Son of God came to destroy these

works of the Devil. Those who have been born into God's family do not sin, because God's life is in them. So they can't keep

on sinning, because they have been born of God.

2 Corinthians 5:17-18 (NLT) What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is

gone. A new life has begun! All this newness of life is from God, who brought us back to himself through what

Christ did.

John 3:3 (NIV) In reply Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he

is born again."

6. WE CAN NOW SEE AND HEAR IN THE SPIRIT

Romans 8:14 (NLT) For all who are led by the Spirit of God

are children of God.

John 3:5-7 (NIV) Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit.

You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be born again.'

7. WE CAN NOW ENTER INTO THE FULLNESS OF THE KINGDOM OF GOD

Romans 14:17 (NIV) For the kingdom of God is not a

matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the

Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 4:20 (NLT) For the Kingdom of God is not just

fancy talk; it is living by God's power.
