Dear Brothers and Sisters,
Loving Sai Ram to all!
It is our pleasure to present before you the Annual Report of Sri Sathya
Sai Seva Organisations and Sri Sathya Sai Trust of Uttar Pradesh &
Uttarakhand for the period 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018.
With Bhagawan’s Grace and Blessings, many programmes were
organised by the four main wings of the Organisations (Education,
Spiritual, Seva and Youth Wing) during this period. All programs were
coordinated by our dedicated and devoted State Vice Presidents
Dr. Kishori Lal and Sri Sachin Neb.
The Education Wing takes care of Baba’s unique ‘Bal Vikas Program’
that focuses on inculcating the Human Values of Satya, Dharma, Shanti,
Prema and Ahimsa to children through a structured process using tools
like silent sitting, storytelling, chanting of shlokas and value games etc.
and is spread over a period of 9 years. This program was carried out in
many districts of Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand by our dedicated Bal
Vikas Gurus and motivated by our State Education Coordinator
Dr. Kavita Bhatnagar who was assisted by the Joint State Education
Coordinator Smt. Himani Upadhyaya.
The Spiritual Wing which focuses on the activities related to the spiritual
progress of the members of the Organisation like Bhajans, Study
Circles, Nagar Sankeertans, Sadhana Camps etc. was headed by our
State Spiritual Coordinator Smt. Usha Upadhyaya
The Seva Wing, which plans and coordinates all activities of Selfless
Service as an offering to the Lord and also conducts the 15 day State
Seva at Prashanti Nilayam from 15th to 31st March and 1st to 15th June,
played an appreciable role in taking Baba’s Divine Mission to the homes
and hearts of our less privileged brothers and sisters through carefully
planned and executed Seva activities. This wing was headed by
Sri Dhananjay Sharma, our State Gents Seva Coordinator and
Smt. Sharanjit Kaur, our State Mahila Seva Coordinator.
The Youth Wing, comprising of young boys and girls of the two states,
was involved in many activities of the Organisation like Blood Donation
camps and Gram Seva etc. The Youth Wing was ably headed by our
State Youth Coordinator Km. Prashanti Upadhyaya.
A unique extension of the Youth Wing is the wonderful Sri Sathya Sai
Vidya Jyoti Program which aims at improving the quality of education in
Government run Schools by improving infrastructure and also motivating
and encouraging children, parents and teachers for a more fulfilling
educational experience. The Bal Vikas program is also an integral part of
this activity. This program was headed and driven by our State
Coordinator for Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Jyoti Sri Rahul Upadhyaya.
Our Disaster Management Team headed by Col. Yogendra Kumar and
assisted by Sri Tushar Joshi conducted extensive training and refresher
courses to young and dedicated boys and girls throughout the states
and also helped saving many lives during the flash floods due to
cloudbursts in Uttarakhand.
Our Prashanti Service (PS) Coordinator Sri Dhananjay Sharma ably
guided and motivated his team to perform its critical role in maintaining
peace and order in the Prashanti Nilayam Ashram.
Our Information Technology Coordinator and Rural Vocational Training
Coordinator Sri Amitabh Saran, our Books and Publications Coordinator
Sri Vijai Prakash and our State Coordinator for Sri Sathya Sai Village
Integrated Program Sri Gyanendra Asthana executed their roles with
devotion in their respective responsibilities.
During the year, many Samities were rejuvenated with focused and
coordinated State level Spiritual, Bal Vikas and Seva activities which
were conducted on the same day across both the states.
Our State Trust, through its Trust members Sri V.N. Upadhyaya and Sri
Deepak Nautiyal did a commendable job in effectively managing the Sai
School in Rishikesh and the Sai Centres in Dehradun, Rishikesh,
Kanpur and Allahabad. The Rishikesh School offers holistic academic
and spiritual education to its students who continue to shine and deliver
excellent results in board examinations as well as extra curricular
activities.
All activities of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations and Sri Sathya Sai
Trust of Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand are inspired and guided by our
Lord, Mentor and Guide - Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba and we pray
to Him to make us worthy of becoming able instruments in His Divine
Mission of spreading His Message of Love and Selfless Service to
mankind.

Report of Activities of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations,
Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand
During the period 1st April 2017 to 31st March 2018 Swami’s devotees
and members of Sri Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Uttar Pradesh and
Uttarakhand participated in activities of all the wings of the Organisation
with a lot of devotion and dedication.
Spiritual Wing
The Spiritual Wing of the Sathya Sai Seva Organisations, Uttar Pradesh
and Uttarakhand conducted several beautiful programs during the year.
With the Bhagawan’s Grace many Spiritual activity in both the states
were organised in a way that each activity was conducted
simultaneously in all districts on the same day.
Gau Dan and Gau Seva:
This seva was carried out throughout the states on the occasion of
Krishna Janashthami where many devotees performed the holy Gau
Daan. The calf / cow was handed over to the recipients in our adopted
villages with chanting of prescribed mantras. In some samitis, Gau Seva
was done by feeding the cows and taking care of it’s health.
Rudram Chanting:
Regular chanting of Rudram in houses of all Devotees in the Shravan
month from 23rd July to 22nd August 2017. This was accompanied by
Abhishek of Swami’s idol on all Mondays of this auspicious month, Rath
Yatra and Rathotsav were organised in different Samities.
Deepotsavam:
As part of Bhagwan’s Birthday Celebrations, ‘Deepotsavam’ was
organised in many districts
Seva Wing
‘Hands that serve are Holier than the Lips that Pray’. This saying of our
beloved Swami guided the Sevadal of both the states to do unique seva
activities in both states with Bhagwan blessing us with several
opportunities to serve our less privileged brothers and sisters throughout
the year .
Winter Relief Seva
During the peak winter months, the Seva Dal comforted their homeless
and shelterless brothers and sisters by putting up bonfires and
distributing tea, buns, biscuits and sometimes full meals. Many were
also provided with blankets and woollen clothes. The Seva Dal moved
late in night carrying blankets and woollen clothes and provided solace
to labours and rickshaw pullers sleeping in the open.
Blankets and jackets were also provided in old age homes, homes for
mentally retarded , orphanges and hospitals.
Narayan Seva:Distribution of food to hungry and homeless Narayans
was a regular activity carried out throughout the year in both the states.
Medical Seva
Hospital Seva:
Seva across several Government run hospitals was carried out during
the year where devotees spent time with patients who did not have any
relatives to attend to them and offered them fruits etc.
Eye Camps:
Several Eye Camps were organised all over the states. Special mention is deserved by the 4 Eye Camps which were held in villages on the outskirts of Dehradun and Haridwar. Hundreds of patients were examined and those with infected eyes were provided free treatment including medicines. Those detected with poor vision were provided spectacles and those suffering from Cataract were referred to a renowned Ete Care Hospital in Dehradun for a proper surgery.
Seva at Paediatric Cancer Ward:
The special seva is the food, blood and medicines being provided
uninterrupted at Lucknow’s Paediatric Cancer Ward since the last 13
years where hundreds of children and attendants are served every week
continued during the year with complete dedication and devotion.
‘Swachhta se Divyata Tak’ Program:
As in the previous year this year too, devotees all over the states of Uttar
Pradesh and Uttarakhand undertook to not only clean as many public
places in their neighbourhood but also spread awareness in villages and
schools adopted by the Organisation so that they can maintain health
and hygiene in their families.
The ‘Swacchata se Divyataa Tak’ program which was conducted all over
the 2 states from 2nd October to 20th October 2017 was carried out in
several Government schools, hospitals and also temples and public
parks.
The program was also conducted with devotion in the SSSVIP Villages
where the villagers were also encouraged to participate in the cleaning
activity.
In Allahabad the cleanliness drive was carried out on the Triveni
Sangam Ghat by the youth and created a lot of impact on all persons
who had come for the holy dip.
Mahila Wing
Vocational Training:
Stitching Classes-Stitching Classes are transforming into Boutiques in
Chillawan village of Lucknow District. More than eighty girls and thirty-
five ladies have been trained at the centre. The Centre was inaugurated
in 2001. Currently 18 girls are learning stitching there. Almost all have
been encouraged to start their own venture, by providing them with
sewing machines on Swami’s Birthday. All girls and ladies are
economically self-dependent and earn their livelihood,and have
contributed in financially supporting their respective families. They
showcase their creativity through an exhibition on the occasion of annual
Day of the centre.
Stitching classes are also being run in Allahabad District. Thirty
two girls are learning tailoring and ladies are working
independently. Many are provided with new sewing machine every
year on Bhagwan’s Birthday.
Stitching classes are also being run at Brahmpur Village centre, in
Roorkee District since 2005. 25 – 30 girls are doing a six-month
tailoring course. They are provided with new sewing machines and
stitching kits on completion of the course.
Mahila Narayan Seva- A monthly Narayan seva is organized, cooked
and distributed to Narayans by the Balvikas girls alumni and Gurus at
Malviya Nagar, in Lucknow. Approx 70-85 Narayans are fed in each
sitting. The Narayan seva is being done since 2012.
Jal Seva- The Mahilas of Lucknow organized and participated in Piyau
Seva and serves clean drinking water to hundreds of thirsty brothers and
sisters in the months of April to September. This service is being done
with brothers of the organization. Balvikas gurus and students are
partake in this service.
Education Activities:
Free Tutorials-Daily Free tutorials are provided by Bal Vikas Gurus at
two Bal Vikas Centers. One centre is located in Kusumi Village in
Gorakhpur District. Approximately 25 to 30 children are provided free
tutorials for their respective classes.
The other centre is located in Raibareilly District where approximately 15
to 20 children are getting free tutorials in all subjects taught in their
classes.
Summer Camp-Summer camp has been organized at the two places.
One camp was organized in the month of May for Bal Vikas Children by
the Gurus in Dehradun District. Children enjoyed storytelling, value
based games, shlokas and Bhajan Competition, chart making, poster
making, etc.
The other camp was organized at the Bal Vikas centre in Kanpur District
for one day and one night. Children from 2nd & 3rd group participated and
enjoyed. Camp started with 21 Omkaram & Suprabhatam and ended
with Night Prayer.
Spiritual Activities:
Veda Training Session- Veda Training sessions for Bal Vikas Gurus &
Mahila Devotees have been conducted in Lucknow and Allahabad
Districts.
Bhajan Workshop- Bhajan Workshop has been conducted in Lucknow
District in the month of October to improve Bhajan quality in which
various points - selection of the Bhajan, and bhajan practice and follow
up of the Bhajans were discussed.
Study Circle- On Bhagwans Birthday, ‘Prem Vahini’ a Mahilla Study
Circle (Satsang) was started, which is now an ongoing monthly
program. These Satsangs are attended by mothers of Bal Vikas
children, and ladies of all samithis.
Youth Wing
Young boys and girls of the Organisation actively participated in various
programs throughout Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Vocational Training:
Vocational Training in the form of computer education was provided to
youth of adopted villages in Lucknow and Allahabad:
Kumbh Seva
Youth of Allahabad Samiti offered a unique Seva at the Magh Kumbh
Mela which is held at the Triveni Ghat. The young Seva Dal took the
responsibility of uniting members of families who got lost in the rush of
the Mela. Also many devotees who lost their clothes while taking bath in
the Holy Rivers were provided clothes and slippers. This was also a
preparation for the seva that is planned during the Maha Kumbh in 2019.
Blood Donation Camp:
Blood Donation Camps were organised by the youth across both the
states and in these camps, the blood was donated not only by Swami’s
devotees but also by College students, Corporate Executives,
Government officers etc. The blood donated will be used for rendering
seva to various patients who approach our Organisation in time of need.
Vidya Jyoti Program:
Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Jyoti program is a unique opportunity given by
Swami for the upliftment of the quality of education being provided at
Government Primary schools. This program was started in a 5 schools
with enthusiasm.
The program includes Health Check up camps, Hygiene education,
Outdoor sports, Creative pottery decoration etc. The participants could
feel Swami’s Love all over these adopted schools in Jhunsi, Roorkee
Sonebhadra, Varanasi and Lucknow.
Disaster Management Program
Disaster Management and awareness camps were held at a number of
places in both states including the ones held at Allahabad and in
Dehradun. In both these camps the girls outnumbered the boys.
Enthusiasm shown by the girls was admirable, especially in learning fire-
fighting skills and First Aid Techniques. The girls didn’t hesitate to
volunteer to be available for rescue operations if the need arises.
Special Activity
Visit of Devotees from Kashmir:
Swami gave the devotees of Agra the privilege to welcome Students and
Teachers from Kashmir who were on their way from Prashanthi Nilayam.
The group consisted of a total of 106 devotees. Out of these there were
12 teachers, 40 girl students and 54 boy students. They reached
Agrawere cordially welcomed at Agra Railway Station in the morning
and were the guests of the state. The Agra Samiti made all all
arrangements of their lodging and boarding. They also visited Taj Mahal
and Agra Fort during their stay.
