With a few simple steps, PPC compression connectors can be easily and consistently installed on 1-5/8” cable

Safety Glasses

Always wear

safety glasses

when operating

tool

Hack Saw

1-5/8” Frame Set

HCG Tool

A. Straighten cable and position

hacksaw in valley of corrugation

and cut off the cable square.

B. Insert correct center

conductor pin into coring tool

and fi rmly tighten.

NOTE: – if using VXL cable use

“VXL” pin

C. Blade lever will rest fl at when

cut is complete

A. Remove the jacket until

outer conductor hits fi xed stop.

Be sure the cutting blade is

positioned over the valley of the

corrugation. Use the ball detents

as guide.

B. Release blade lever and

operate drill clockwise and

counter clockwise to cut

through inner and outer

conductor

D. Set drill speed to LOW

D. Remove coring tool.

Step #3

D. Core cable to remove

dielectric until outer conductor

reaches stop on coring tool.

A. Remove cable piece from

the side of the stripping tool.

Remove cable from tool.

B. Properly stripped and cut

cable is ready for dielectric

removal.

Step #4

C. Push connector onto cable

until it reaches the mark on the

cable.

A. Cable is properly cored B. Align outer conductor with

top edge of knurl on back piece

and mark cable in line with end

of connector.

Step #5

C. When fully compressed,

connector back will move away

from alignment mark.

A. Pull or push back the insert to

allow connector/cable to lay fl at

in frame.

B. Make sure connector is fully

seated in frameset (lying fl at).

Press tool trigger to compress

the connector. Do not push on tool/cable during compression.

C. Set drill speed to HIGH

D. Add port seal to connector

to ensure a moisture proof

connection. The port seal should

sit in the fl at area behind the

threads.
