16.0. The no. of meetings of the Advisory Committee held year wise

Advisory Committee members from JNU have been continuously

consulted on various issues for suggestions and advice

NAAC observations were submitted in March 2012

17.0. Ranking of HRDC by NAAC

NAAC Observation/ Appreciation Dynamic and innovative administration with Collective decision making

Continual internal review of Academics and Administration

Up-to-date information about ASC activities on the website

Automated application process

Open to international academia

NAAC Suggestions/ recommendations Action taken

Limited guest house facility for Resource person A new guest house with eight rooms has been

constructed

Inadequate number of permanent staff All the UGC-sanctioned administrative posts have

been filled except hostel attendant

Opportunities for organizing need based courses

for doctoral, post-doctoral, M.Phil and Research

scholars

Need-based courses for fellows are organized by all

Schools of JNU, HRDC, JNU provides logistics

support to other Schools/Centres of JNU that

conducts such courses

Scope for organization of more need based STC Few applicants for the need based STC as such

courses are not required for API Score

We have taken cognizance of all suggestions/recommendations given by

NAAC in 2012, as can be seen from the presented data

HRDC, JNU always adhered to UGC guidelines, thus did not face any difficulty in fulfilling its objectives

Less applicants for short-term courses and workshops and Teachers Educator Program

No mechanism to know the applicability of the knowledge gained by the Faculty trainees at HRDC-JNU on their return to their respective college/university

We would look forward to UGC for timely release of required funds so that we can conduct courses smoothly

To make HRDC, JNU disabled friendly by installing elevator in the administrative building

18.0. Difficulties faced by HRDC, JNU

HRDC-JNU visualizes itself as an emerging major centre within the university system, for Innovation, Quality Knowledge Production and Dissemination

1. HRDC-JNU proposes to be a major Centre for Teachers Educator Program (TEP):

a) Orientation program for Teachers of Department of Education in Universities and colleges

b) Will be conducted in coordination with Zakir Husain Centre for Educational Studies(ZHCES), JNU

c) The Course structure would include :

I. Social Science Perspectives of Education and Society: An Introduction

II. Philosophical perspectives on education and knowledge systems

III. History of school and higher education: Exploring historical sources of data on education, Indigenious and modern/colonial education, educational debates, Wood's Dispatch and Hunter Commission Reports, National Education, etc.

IV. Sociological concerns in education: Issues of diversity, equity, and exclusion; educational organizations, gender and education; politics and ideology of education

V. Human cognition, learning and subjectivity in diverse cultural-linguistic contexts: Social- Psychological perspectives

VI. Self and affective processes in academic contexts in India

VII.Economics of Education: Issues in human capital theory, skill development and globalization.

VIII.Education policy, practices and effects.

IX. Textbook, Curriculum and Pedagogy: Social, Psychological and Historical Perspectives

X. Democracy and Education

XI. Comparative education and its relevance to the study of national educational systems.

XII.Educational Research: Methods, tools and paradigms

19.0. Future Vision of HRDC, JNU

Contd…

2. FKRC (Frontiers of Knowledge Research Centre) where teachers from across the

country could be brought with fellowship to facilitate their on-going research in

collaboration with the JNU faculty

3. Orientation program for the administrators: Provide training to administrative

staff

4. Short term courses/ Workshops for post doctoral fellows to be made mandatory

for the UGC Kothari fellows, Govt. of India supported post doctoral fellows. This is

absolutely essential to train the young post doctoral fellows on teaching methodologies.

As these PDF are good in research but need to be trained in teaching methodologies. It

is envisaged that this mission would enable to build a strong professional cadre of

teachers

5. To create a self sustaining model for training teachers/ university faculty from private

institutions and the institutions should be given accreditation by UGC only after their faculty

members have attended the courses at HRDCs. The private institutions could be charged fees for

training their faculty members.

6. To be recognized as Regional Centre for Capacity Building in the country as HRDC, JNU

has all the capabilities/infrastructure required to discharge the expected functions of RCCB.
