SOLANO COUNT
2016 DSC use of the wrong data from DRMS for the
Delta Levee Investment Strategy
Update of the ongoing use of incorrect data compiled by URS for the DRMS Phase 1 Report published by DWR, with incorrect
technical data still in use as of July 2016 Data compiled by NSS

Letter to DSC
Independent
Science Board
advising of the use
of incorrect data
from DRMS Phase
1, with request to
correct data
related to Ryer
Island located
northeast of Rio
Vista
DSC response:
Acknowledging the incorrect
Data of DRMS …
DSC says DRMS
incorrect data was not
used for DLIS, then
says alternative data
was compiled (even
though the DRMS
Phase 1 report is
referenced for the data)
DSC acknowledges some
assets were missed, agrees to
add those assets, but does so in
an illogical way.
DSC says population total
comes from USACE…which
used DRMS. In any case DSC
says the population of Ryer
Island, based on census data, is
320 people protected by the
levees, assuming people on the
water side of levees would not
be at risk. (What about blocked
access due to road damage
from levee failure?

Despite assurances by DSC
representative, decisions are
proposed to be based on the
“best available science”. Yet
look at all the incorrect data
that is being used for just
ONE of the islands of the
Delta!
It appears information from
both Ryer Islands was
combined to create one
record, resulting in quite
substantial incorrect data in
use for the DSC decision
process, particularly for the
Ryer Island northeast of Rio
Vista.
