PLANNING PRINCIPLES • Integrate transportation in planning for new construction, renovation, and programs

withsensitivity towards impacts on the adjacent neighborhood

• Recognize multimodal environment and desire to accommodate all modes of transportation

in an efficient and balanced way

• Recognize the wide spectrum of user groups at the Pier (e.g., employees, visitors, all ages, levels of mobility, etc.) and strive to balance their respective needs

• Limit the impact of Pier activities, as reasonably feasible, on the surrounding streets while recognizing the role played by Navy Pier as the highest attendance venue in the City

• Promote non-auto transportation options to limit traffic impacts, particularly during peak -attendance events

• Integrate design elements and character to enhance pedestrian safety and scale

• Manage on-and off -site parking facilities to maximize efficiency and provide opportunities to distribute traffic impacts

• Maintain a close working relationship with City staff and representatives to coordinate on transportation-related issues
